Young is a more of a wide midfielder tbf. it doesn't really matter considering England play a 4-2-3-1 (most of the time) and they'd both be vying for one of the wide spots

do they? Hogdgson plays a 4-4-2 as much as he does a 4-2-3-1 and Young can play as the wide midfielder in a flat midfield while Rodriquez who is predominantly a forward can't really play there. Obviously picking on form Rodriguez goes but i think he'll be vying with the likes of Welbeck, Carroll and Lambert for a spot

Hart Ruddy Foster
Johnson Walker Cahill Jagielka Cole Baines
Henderson Gerrard Milner Wilshere Oxlade Chamberlain Sterling Young Lallana Adam Johnson (on form, defo, see if he keeps it up)
Sturridge Rooney Rodriguez Lambert Berahino (why not?)

If the squad was picked today I can't see how Roy could justify taking Young over AJ.

Can't actually think of any good centre halves this season, other than those two really. Obviously I'd find some if I really looked but cba haha

Hart, Forster, Ruddy Walker, Clyne, Baines, Shaw, Cahill, Jagielka, Jones, Smalling Henderson, Gerrard, Lampard, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Johnson Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck, Jay Rod, Lambert Hart Walker Jags Cahill Baines Henderson Gerrard Sturridge Lallana Jay Rod Rooney
That would be my current starting 11, on form right now.

I'd either get Terry out of retirement or just play Jones to give him the experience. Jagielka is your typical good reliable centre half but not capable enough against the best.

Said it earlier but if you're taking Smalling and Jones I don't see the point in taking 2 right-backs. They've both played RB enough for Man United and we desperately need as many attacking options as we can muster. Also no idea how you justify Lampard over Barkley.

Hart Ruddy Foster Johnson Walker Cahill Jagielka Cole Baines Henderson Gerrard Milner Wilshere Oxlade Chamberlain Sterling Young Lallana Adam Johnson (on form, defo, see if he keeps it up) Sturridge Rooney Rodriguez Lambert Berahino (why not?) That squad would be fucked in a tournament, there is literally no-one who could play centre-back if one of the existing ones got injured unless you turned Gerrard into a sweeper or you played Cole out of position at centre back. That's why the likes of Jones and Smalling should be brought to cover centre back and full-back. Jones also defensive midfield

You've also brought a ridiculous amount of attacking mids.
Hart (Forster, Ruddy)
Walker (Johnson)
Jagielka, Cahill (Jones)
Baines (Cole)
Henderson, Gerrard, Wilshere (Carrick, Barkley, Barry)
Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck (Sterling, Lallana, Lambert, Townsend)
Front 3 doesnt work as well as it would on a 4-2-3-1 with Rooney and Sturridge central but I'd worry a Henderson/Gerrard duo gets over ran by a 3. Maybe take out Barry for Jay Rod. I'm probably missing someone obvious but it's about a fair a squad as there is right now. Chamberlain/Johnson can still play their way in if they keep their form up (by form I basically mean Chamberlains game vs Palace).

If we play 4-2-3-1 then I don't see how that's a ridiculous amount of attacking mids. Four centre mids (I'm classing Milner as that, he should be playing there) to occupy two places (Henderson and Gerrard).

You've got Chamberlain, Sterling, Young, Lallana, Johnson and even Jay Rod (who isnt going to lead the line really) all fighting to be on the wing. 6 people for 2 positions is mental considering you're not even bringing a backup CB.
