Was FFP ever anything other than window dressing and lip service?

So basically the fine is not for breaking FFP, it's for not co-operating. The only reason why the ban has been overturned is because they broke FFP more than five years ago.
They shouldn't have been so quick to agree to a settlement those years ago when City were fined and had a squad size reduction.
Never mind! It was funny while it lasted lol. Will be interesting to see if there's any backlash from any clubs.

Might as well just scrap FFP, form their European super league and just remove any possibility of a Leicester/Montpellier ever happening again. It funnily enough coincides with them coming nowhere close to winning the league, meaning they now have full confirmation that they can go out and spend £400m on players this summer knowing they won’t actually have to face any consequences.

Tbf, this isn't UEFA. UEFA gave them the ban, it's the CAS that overturned it.

Except that’s not what the judgement says at all, they were found guilty of exceeding spending limits but over 5 years ago, which the rules state you can’t be retrospectively punished for in the manner they tried to.
I don’t see this as the death knell for FFP that some do, reading the summary judgment strongly implies they’d have remained banned had they been charged sooner with the breaches. Agree though that I have little to no confidence in UEFA to correctly apply the rules going forward.

The reason they didn't get the evidence in a suitable time frame was because City didn't co-operate. By doing so they've avoided a huge punishment for the actual breaking of FFP and only been punished for their non co-operation. Surely not how law should work?

To be fair I think most of these allegations are from 2012? They only started investigating them again after the leaks, surely they should have known at that point that because it was more than five years ago they can't ban them.
City have gotten away with one here and they know it. Why else would a club "welcome" a €10m if they hadn't done anything wrong? Plus, why did they not co-operate in the first place had they done nothing wrong?
Again, I think that this is all down to UEFA's shit penalty in the first place years ago lol.

Long story short, this and PSG were the litmus test for FFP and it's been shown that it's not fit for purpose.
