A 10 year contract in a salary capped league is BALLSY, on both sides. I can’t remember how NFL contracts generally work. I know it’s typically only about 50-60% is guaranteed but I can’t remember if they front load contracts or back load them as they do in the NBA.
I’m seeing on Twitter that it’s gonna be tied to the cap, which to me means it’s not actually a 10 year contract, more a 10 year agreement that will fluctuate as the cap does based on percentages. Otherwise if he was locking himself into 10 years 200m for example, by the time we got to 2026 he could be leaving 20m on the table he could be entitled to.

Whether it's tied to the cap seems to be debated by some so it'll be interesting to see how it washes out. Compared to the previous highest NFL contract of $150 mil for Matt Ryan it'll be around 2 and a half times that contract, and in fact that wiki page is already saying it's the highest ever in sports, which is insane that it's managing to beat baseball contracts which are historically huge. This'll be a major shake up to how they work going forward, perhaps the stability of knowing how much money their QB will be making each year for the next 12 years will allow them to go out and build a great team around him a la Brady.

Unfortunately it’s been jumped on by the alt-right, but the basic sentiment that it’s a disgrace if DeSean Jackson isn’t harshly punished is true

the problem is the Eagles didn't harshly punish Riley Cooper six or seven years ago, whenever it was. they need to punish Jackson but also acknowledge they were way too lax on Cooper, otherwise it feeds into a narrative that the black player is being punsihed more harshly (which shouldn't take away from what Jackson has done imo)
can't quite wrap my head around being stupid enough to do what Djax has done though

I mean what Jackson did is fundamentally way worse than what Cooper did. I think you could definitely just say this situation deserves far harsher punishment. The problem is a lot of current and former athletes actually agree with Jackson, not just is a free speech stance but in the virulent anti-semitism he put out there. Also, he isn't just "stupid" or "didn't know what he was doing," he's a straight up hardcore anti-semite, you simply cannot agree with the statement he posted (or indeed most of Farrakhan's 'teachings') and not be.

Aye sorry I didn’t mean to equate what both have done, just that it’ll be viewed a certain way. I mean Cooper got a contract extension a year later, independent from Jackson’s thing that is wild. You see Shannon Sharpe going on that the white players never have to go to the lengths black players do to avoid losing their jobs. And I think in fairness he’s right in that. I probably should have phrased it as: the problem *for* the Eagles is being seen to be hypocritical if they go hard on Jackson having not really punished Cooper.
I agree it’s blatant anti-Semitism on Jackson’s part but if he’s gonna accept invites from the Jewish community in Philly and tries to grow and learn then that’s something good that may come out of it.
I don’t think the Eagles will cut him tbh, mostly because he apologised so profusely. Seems to me he realised he fucked up. The worrying thing, as you say, is not seeing it as a blatantly anti-Semitic statement *before* the blowback says a lot about his view of the world.

Malik Jackson calling Farrakhan “honourable” now so yeah there’s definitely a bigger problem here for the Eagles
