Harsh of me to say recency bias played its part here considering the season started 13 months ago but the likes of Sterling, Saka and Greenwood wouldn’t have gotten in there if the season had continued as normal after March, when these awards are normally voted on, imo. Sterling had been off the boil for about 4 months at that point.
I think Adama should’ve been up for YPOTY. The only eligible player who won POTM this season.

Isn't that a bit of a contradiction though? To say Mount and Foden shouldnt really be there but Trent and Rashford are too established? It would be good if it was a kind of breakthrough award but you just end up with overly subjective parameters to win it. I don't get what you mean, sorry? I personally don't think Mount and Foden have been good enough (or consistent enough) to deserve to be nominated, not because they're not established enough. I take djed's point though, Mount was good at the start of the season, just seems so long ago lol.

Well I mean it's either best player under 2x years in which case you'll always have a TAA or Rashford winning it being the best of that age.
Or if it's a break through award you rule out players like that which would inevitably leave you with players like Foden, mount and Greenwood.
I do prefer just making it best player under a certain age though even if they have been in the league 3-4 years.

Surely it's easy enough to understand why Mount would receive a nomination? At 20/21 in his first PL season he played in 37 games and finished with 7 goals and 5 assists. He had a very good debut season for an inexperienced youngster.
Reece James also had an excellent season. Like Mount he definitely won't win but a nomination is justified.
Greenwood would be my pick. He had an exceptional breakthrough season.

I guess I'm another one of those who think this should be more of a break out award. Trent is so well established and has achieved so much already he should really only be considered for POTY imo. He's so far beyond only being considered a great young player.
All things considered I think Greenwood deserves it the most for what he did last season. His standard of performance at only 18 is more in keeping with the spirit of the award.

Makes sense, there's definitely no perfect way around it but at the moment it just seems a bit meh. Also agree with djed again. If Greenwood's performances were at the start of the season and Mount's at the end I'd be saying the opposite. Recency bias is such a big thing in these awards. Still hard to argue with 10 goals at 18 years of age though. Mike, whilst I'll take back what I said about Mount (though I do think he's a level below all the other youngsters) I'm not having Reece James as a nominee no matter what you say.

Sorry if this has already been discussed but this seems awfully petulant from Rose lol. I see where he's coming from but Mourinho made it clear he trained very well and so got to play against Liverpool, then he played badly and so Tangana got a chance, he played well and so stayed in the team.
Then when walking out saying he'll talk to Daniel Levy about it lol.

Yeah that doesn't look good for Rose for me - Mourinho actually handles it quite well I thought because he'd clearly made his mind up going in there and digging out his teammates isn't really a good look.

Love David Silva but there's no way he deserves to be in the PFA team of the year this year, smacks of sentimentality

the latest in ‘we are city and we are the victims’ sees city fans seeing it as some major achievement that de bruyne won pfa players player of the year because there’s a media bias against them and in favour of liverpool
which affects
an award voted for by the players

chris waddle has got united to win the league and it’s worth noting at this point that he pronounces penalty, one of the main events of a game he has been involved in for well over half a century, as pelanty
