No he came from Fulham and had us just outside the relegation zone and saying that we were meeting expectations, moaning that the fans were in the wrong for being upset about the situation and absolving himself of all blame.

Whiteknighting for Leicester and Transfermarkt figures, fuck me is that what passes as debate now?
I didn’t want Leicester to win the title when they did, they’re something of a rival to Forest and I couldn’t give two shits about “whiteknighting” for them, whatever that means. Fact is that yes Liverpool deserve a ton of credit for overcoming their injuries and getting top 4, absolutely taking nothing away from them but it just isn’t an underachievement for Leicester to finish 5th behind City, United, Chelsea and Liverpool, all clubs with infinitely more resources invested into the team over the years. You can say what you want about their owner being wealthy, that doesn’t guarantee anything, and they haven’t invested to the same level over an extended period of time. There is nothing “bottlejob” like about falling away by losing to Chelsea and Spurs, the only argument I’ll hear is the couple of other games they dropped points against lesser sides but it’s ridiculous that absolutely everything is a bottlejob or losing your bottle now. It’s fucking sport, things happen.
Re: the Spurs comparison, bottling it is far more apt in situations like Spurs’ “title charge” against Leicester purely because of the way they unravelled mentally when Chelsea equalised against them, that’s bottling it to me, you can see the mental disintegration. Leicester yesterday wasn’t even that bad, bizarre own goal aside. They had to push for the goal and got counter attacked with a very dubious handball, there’s no shame in that.
I just can’t fathom when it boils down to it how arguing a team winning their first FA cup and just falling short against far larger teams are bottlers makes any sense

Far less resources lmao they’ve got one of the richest owners in world football. Why are they getting such a free pass here, honestly? This isn’t plucky little Leicester who fairytaled their way to a league title anymore. They’re genuinely one of the best 6 or 7 teams in the league and have been pretty consistently in the last 5 years, at times underachieving and at others slightly overachieving. If you wanna make the valid point that they found themselves in the top 4 because the usual occupiers, in Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea, all had massive dips in their season then fair enough. But they were still in there and when it came down to it they failed. And you’re right they’re not the only ones to bottle it. West Ham did, Everton did as well considering the quality they’ve brought in over the last couple of years. But we all know they’re not as good as Leicester are. And if the tables were turned and we’d lost yesterday and Leicester won, we’d rightly be getting called bottlers and having to fall back on the excuse of injuries which we’ve used all season to justify how poor we’ve been. This is actually parody, everyone who didn’t make Champions League bottled it. In fact everyone bar Man City bottled this season, and possibly every club in Europe if they win the Champions League as well.

I just can’t fathom when it boils down to it how arguing a team winning their first FA cup and just falling short against far larger teams are bottlers makes any sense We spent most of that season in third and most were predicting we'd finish somewhere around 5th-8th. Going into that season we were in the market for players like Kevin Wimmer and Clinton Njie lol Went on a run of four or five CL campaigns where we'd routinely be accused of bottling games against Barcelona, Juventus, Liverpool and Bayern whilst building a billion pound stadium selling key players and going the best part of two years without signing any kind of replacement while at least half a dozen English clubs had a clear financial lead over us If the tag is apt for one of us it is completely apt for both. There is no way when you look at how Tottenham and Leicester operate that a double standard should exist. Fuck it if a double standard did exist we're the so called pluckier of the two and have been doing it without the safety net of a billionaires pocket

Sounds like he was left with a shit squad from Rafa and Liverpool fans had no patience.

Clearly never gonna agree with each other on this so I’ll just leave it there. I do have an agenda against Rodgers and I’ve been vocal about it so maybe that doesn’t help my case.

You’re completely missing the point that bottling isn’t some esoteric concept when a team finishes a certain position, you can see it tangibly. Spurs only “bottled” that season I mentioned in the sense that they dissolved mentally when Chelsea put them under pressure. That’s bottling it, none of the other situations are.
If Liverpool lost yesterday and they scraped in, did they still bottle it? It’s just stupid to judge things on that scale.

Oh you mean like being 2-1 up and fourteen minutes away from Champions League qualification but ultimately conspiring to lose 4-2 against a pretty shit team in a really bad place

Surely a team can't really be bottlers if they won the FA cup?

Surely a team can't really be bottlers if they won the FA cup? League and cup aren't one and the same Sure but without trying to take the piss the reason Spurs have had the label stick a lot easier is cause you win neither. The biggest game of their season was last Saturday and even with Evans's injury in the first half they won it. Obviously the ending to the league was disapppointing but you can't really be bottlers if you win your biggest game of the season.
