I also think if there’s one team you’d love to face if you’re Haaland it’s Leipzig. We played them during the Covid season when they had Upamecano and they were so easy to get in behind every time. Bunch of mongs always

Yeah not sure City win this one without that penalty Been baiting you about Forest for ages and that's the one that gets a reply Decided was more about the Chelsea game but it's not like the penalty came at 6-0 is it

This was always an impossible task but frustrating nonetheless to see chances wasted with terrible passing.

Can’t believe we gave Salah what he wanted money wise for him to be as bad as he’s been this season

I can't believe we need goals, don't have another game until April but Nunez still isn't allowed to play more than 60 minutes.

I’m worried about what would happen if Alisson decided he wanted to move on. If we were going to win last night it would’ve been mostly down to him. Didn’t stand a chance for the goal but was unbelievable yet again. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a better keeper and I can’t imagine I ever will

Jonathan Liew has summed Trent up quite nicely: "Trent Alexander-Arnold is currently in the stage of acute bafflement that an elite athlete undergoes when their body is simply no longer doing what they tell it to do."
I find Trent & van Dijk to be in pretty similar situations at present. Both show glimpses of why they should still be world class, but are just stuck in a seemingly mental malaise. Neither are playing with any intensity, neither of them want to defend, the body language of the pair is just dreadful.
With van Dijk I think you've just got to suck it up and hope a good rest and pre season see's him back to his best next year. But with Trent you have options. We absolutely have to sign a right back in the summer. I'd sign one good enough to start for us, not another Calvin Ramsey. Not only would it provide proper competition, but I do think it's time to consider trying him in midfield. They need to have a serious and lengthy discussion with him. Does he want to be a right back? Because he shows no signs of wanting to defend like one. He had zero interest in having a battle with Vinicius over the two legs, as you'd expect from say Robertson, if he played on the other side. If he doesn't want to take that role seriously, then he's too good a player to not find another solution for. I would like to see what he could do in the Henderson role, on the right of a three.
Getting left out of the England squad would be a nice start to his recovery. Although would imagine Southgate will pick him just to spite him now.

It's massively simplistic to say, but surely Trent/Klopp/Fans look at Bale's career progression and think he should be now looking to emulate it?
Sure it's difficult when the player ahead of him in the pitch is Salah, but as you say he's not exactly showing signs that he's willing to defend as much as is required.

Bale had lightning pace and was uniquely fucking massive that allowed him to outrun and outmuscle defenders. Trent isn’t fast, isn’t particularly strong and is significantly shorter than Bale. He could be too small to play in midfield and he’s not quick enough to play any further forward
There’s no comparison but this used to be a conversation that was had about Glen Johnson. People used to say we’d be better off putting him further forward but the benefit of being a full back is having the full pitch in front of you. Very rarely are you getting the ball with your back to goal and for someone like Trent it makes him really dangerous. He’s just run down, he’s played nearly every available minute for us in the last 5 years. Ramsey turned out to be a myth and Williams wasn’t good enough - though right now we need bodies more than quality tbh and losing him is looking like a mistake. Salah offers him very little protection which is fine when he’s performing but he’s been well off it this season. Elliott has spent big parts of the season over on the right of the midfield three and he puts in all the effort and tries to press but he’s got no urgency defensively so a team can play around him too easily. Trent’s not a great defender and he is targeted but he’s put in more one on one situations than a full back should be and he inevitably suffers. Dual threat for the opposition because making him defend more one on one completely nullifies him going forward because he hasn’t got the energy to be as good as he can be further forward. He’s a uniquely talented player who is also uniquely easy to just cancel out

City getting a difficult draw is unique. Still think there’s a very strong chance of a City v Napoli final. If Napoli or Benfica don’t get to the final from that side of the draw I’d be shocked
