Three midfielders who can play a pass aswell, I can't wait to look a tit when it ends 0-0

We're not bad you know. I know there'll be some reply about qualifiers and minnows and Iceland and whatever but this is the first England team in about 15/20 years who have any sort of style/purpose to the way they play and a good level of depth of talent to back it up aswell.
There are obviously one or two problem positions but you take this squad, add Foden and Sterling into the mix and you're talking about a seriously good attack with plenty of different options.
We're finally playing two not just passable but excellent full backs, Southgate is 1000x more comfortable than Hodgson or Capello or anyone else to play the right kind of midfielders to compliment that attack. Centre half and goalkeeper are the only obvious problems and they're obviously the worst two positions to have issues with but I'm so excited by the potential of this team

I still worry about how good the team as a whole is defensively but you won't really see how much that matters until after the group stages of tournaments anyway

Think we’re definitely better but we’ve only just came off our first defeat in 44 qualifiers or something daft so we’ve clearly got no problem hammering teams worse than us, especially at Wembley where our record is excellent in qualifiers. Our performances against Holland, Switzerland, and Czech Republic were woeful, need to see us perform against top teams consistently to be confident in us. Can’t see why Stones on the pitch vs anyone decent shouldn’t be a sign to panic either, much rather have Mings or Gomez.
Southgate has taken far too long to start picking TAA who should be one of the first 3 names on the teamsheet for me to be confident in him consistently picking the right team, and his subs need serious work. We’re a work in progress still but it’s looking good. Would like to see us with more genuine competition in net, us to start consistently picking TAA and Chilwell, and start playing Maddison (he’s obviously class but also we saw how important set pieces can be last summer).

When it comes round to tournament time I hope he doesn't sacrifice a midfielder to play 3 centre halves again. I think it was a mistake, unless we magic up a couple of Maldinis before the Euros our only real way of easing the pressure on the defence is to build a unit in midfield that can properly start to control possession in big games, which is a huge ask in itself and would be changing the habit of a lifetime but seems more feasible than just hoping Maguire and Stones (it should be one of them plus Gomez anyway) turn into world beaters for the duration of a tournament

England are as good as anyone in the world talent wise, if yous can be solid defensively and more consistent against the top teams there's no reason this generation don't win a tournament imo
But back to the important stuff, Troy Parrott put in some shift and was unlucky not to score. Keeper had the audacity to make a good save ffs

Only 3 more games until Southgate names his squad wow. Way I see it the only definites barring injury are Pickford, TAA, Maguire, Chilwell, Henderson, Sterling, Kane, Rashford and Sancho. Pope, Gomez, Rice and Mount very likely as well. Still a lot of places to be filled, far better than 2018 where you’re struggling to fill the squad because there’s so many options but also you’d want us to be more settled at this point.

hope you'll all be tuned into the biggest game of the evening, that's right, a friendly versus New Zealand in Dublin on a cold night in November, Lansdowne will be rocking. Troy Parrott making his debut, the first of 200 caps and maybe he'll get his first goal of 100 for Ireland, who knows, I don't wanna put too much pressure on him This game has actually been good you knob
