Wasn't a fan of the new Kingsmen film. I felt like it dragged and it was just a fictional recreation of what happened in the First World War.

The Batman is really good. Really long. But really good.

The first half of the film is absolutely brilliant, every scene is so tense and the world is so dark and looks brilliant. But the second half of the film just drags, the pace slows to a jarring extent and as the story gets bigger I think it loses a bit of focus. Good film but anyone saying this is better than the Dark Knight is absolutely kidding themselves.

Yeah I agree with that. The "big" reveals didn't really work for me, I actually think it suffered a bit from wanting to do action set pieces and getting away from the detective/investigation story they were going down. If they'd spent more time laying groundwork for the reveals and maybe sacrificed some of the big action moments, I think it'd be a 10/10. One thing that I think they struggled with though, and may struggle with going forward: {SPOILER}The Riddler and The Joker were sort of indistinguishable? The Riddler is insane and likes riddles, and the Joker they've introduced is insane and they both start laughing hysterically at the Jokers' riddle? I don't know if that was more to do with Dano's performance but unless they make Joker sort of cold, clinical insane I worry that we'll watch the Joker and be like "isn't this just like the first movie"?
I also thought that while Paul Dano in that scene with Batman at Arkham was really great, it really didn't have that same tension as the interrogation scene in The Dark Knight because we didn't know there was a time sensitive element, or some bit of information that Batman needed from Riddler. I liked the twist that Riddler didn't know Batman's identity and that Batman made a mistake because he thought his secret was going to be revealed, but I thought the scene just didn't have that same "oh shit" feeling that the Joker interrogation scene had.
I like Barry Keoghan and like the casting of him as Joker but I definitely think they'll need to do a bit of work to really distinguish the two villains. But I agree it's not the Dark Knight, but it's probably up there as my 2nd favourite Batman movie. And I loved Pattinson's Batman, thought he was great. Also Colin Farrell's Penguin was just brilliant, so funny.

Also I spent too much of the movie doing the Leo DiCaprio pointing meme whenever I recognised a bit of Glasgow

Was sure those bits and anything that was an underpass and that were under central station around Argyle St Unless I was just so conscious that it was filmed in Glasgow I started seeing it everywhere hahaha. "Look at all those skyscrapers, it's Maryhill!"

Also thought there were quite a few shots of around George Sq/Exchange Place but sort of edited or shot in a way to make it look different, but I'm near sure we saw the front of Gallery of Modern Art a few times

I don't overly care either way, they're both in the wrong, Smith moreso. But I'm loving the insane 'but what if?' takes. Genuinely seen someone ask what everyone's reaction would have been if he'd done that to (a presumably still alive) Betty White, as though that is a remotely sane thing to hypothesise.

Not for us to say what someone else is offended by and that’s my issue with people saying it’s free speech and that smith was laughing. Yeah, he was, then quickly realised that his wife wasn’t and acted defensively
If she’d made loads of public appearances wigless and had been able to develop a tolerance to them it’s different but she clearly wasn’t comfortable and Rock should’ve apologised instead of doubling down and trying to make smith seem more unreasonable. It’s not an outrageous joke and I’ve heard far far worse go by without a murmur but often times, the subject of your joke isn’t sat there in a vulnerable situation so there’s nobody there to defend them
It’s nice to see the world see a high profile example of “free speech doesn’t mean words without consequences”. If a small time comedian makes that joke at a comedy club a slap is a let off
