I'm not sure which bit you want me to talk about but in terms of Starmer, to be outflanked by Johnson on this is absolutely embarrassing. Labour are supposed to be a party that stands with marginalised groups and they are being outflanked by Boris fucking Johnson lol. Whatever else about the Tories, they stand with their MPs and party members to an absolute fault. Labour's internal sniping means that Starmer doesn't even come out with a vanilla statement like racism = bad, police = good in general. He just says nothing? I actually think he's being incredibly weak here because he's scared of alienating people who thought Corbyn hated law and order. He has an established strong relationship with the police (which I dislike) and if he had any strength about him at all he'd be vocally anti-racist while talking about the profiling that goes on and how to improve policing in the Britain. He could actually act as a bridge between sections of Labour that seem unable to be reconciled but instead his silence speaks volumes (imo).

He could actually act as a bridge between sections of Labour that seem unable to be reconciled but instead his silence speaks volumes (imo). Some good points well made there. You're right, it's a terrible look for Starmer. Though I suspect he'll come out with a generic statement shortly based on the backlash he's now receiving. I should have specified in my initial post. I was wondering what you made of yesterdays incident itself with Dawn Butler. Incompetent policing or undeniable racism? From what I've seen on Twitter the general consensus is either that she is the victim of racial profiling or she is race baiting and playing the victim etc and as usual in these type of situations there is never any middle ground or alternative point of view. Personally I believe it was a case of incompetent policing. The officers involved made a blunder and whilst we all make mistakes the police cock up like this all the time to an unacceptable level. It's actually quite scary how many incompetent officers patrol the streets how do not know the law and or make up their own. Fortunately for Dawn they stood down and accepted fault because of her profile. The average Joe wouldn't have been so fortunate. I am yet to see any evidence of racial profiling in this instance beyond 'it happens all the time'. Whilst there will undoubtedly be racist police officers I don't believe that was the case here. Her tweet also doesn't sit well with me as and she states that she herself was stopped by the police when in fact she was a passenger and she wasn't stopped at all.

The vanilla statement has been made now but I think he really needs to work on this because you can see the trust being completely eroded. Like I can't emphasise enough how shitty it is to have Johnson get a statement out ahead of him on this.
It's not about individual police officers being racist, but the system they work within results in profiling. I'm sure the officers involved don't consider themselves racist and I'm sure there are plenty of instances where they can show themselves not to be acting in a racist manner. But that doesn't actually matter when the *actions* result in minorities being the target of these policies and these sorts of situations time and again.
What evidence of racial profiling would you find in *any* situation like this? Unless there is a recording of a police officer literally saying "I did this because you're black", you would never see hard evidence?
Danny Rose spoke only last week about being stopped every time he goes home, these are not isolated incidents that can be put down to mistakes.
You can call it incompetence but I would argue that these policies and policing at the minute is designed to target minorities and working class people, so they're working exactly as intended (even if individual officers don't feel that's the intent).
And to be quite honest, anyone who accuses a minority of race baiting or playing a race card or playing the victim, I just can't take their opinion seriously. It's an indication of willful blindness imo, those sorts of people will latch on to the small details in single cases in order to say that the issue doesn't exist at all.

The amount of supposed ex coppers slating her whilst circlejerking over Diane Abbott memes really aren't doing themselves much good either.

This whole grades thing is ridiculous. They were all slagging off the SNP just the other week and then went and done the exact same thing but worse.
I'll also shamefully copy and paste my tweet earlier:
So when it's the SNP Starmer says they've failed a generation, yet when it's the Tories he says they need a "rethink" - this is not a good look for Labour.

Scientific literacy is so hilariously shit in this country. Apparently the Tories are going to 'drop the algorithm' for the A levels. As though it was fucking Skynet that came up with it to stop John Connor going to Cambridge, rather than the algorithm being written by biased human beings with a mandate from their boss to push the results down.
As soon as something becomes vaguely scientific everyone acts as though it's magic rather than having been designed by humans with biases.

Minister in the Republic of Ireland resigning over attending an event of 80 people this week. Second time someone’s had to resign from the agricultural job in the last month or so in disgrace.

Just speaks to the absolute disdain the likes of Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil have for the general public in Ireland. They can go on and on and fucking *on* about how Sinn Féin "aren't a normal party" but what does it say about how they've ran things for 100 years when people look at Sinn Féin and go "aye we know, we're just sick of you pricks".
Former Attorney General, FG shill and current SUPREME COURT JUDGE who helped WRITE THE FUCKING GUIDELINES was there and all.
Fuck every last one of them, arrogant fucks. Phil Hogan is the worst of them though, cunt

I take your point re SF but if they were in the same position they would have done the same. I kind of agree with their reluctance to work with them as I think they’re destructive.
Since the coalition the govt has fallen apart.
