I was thinking about the age old problem of the English national team last night. When an international break comes we're usually just annoyed we have to forgo a week or 2 of our precious club football and who can blame us? We've had shite squads and even worse managers so many times now we were bound to lose faith. Despite all that tho I ask "Where's the passion, lads?"
If England had the chance to become good, I.E the FA's seemingly useless new initiatives actually did something would you take it? What if this meant heavily restricting the amount of foreigners in the EPL? Do you think it's even worth it now that we hardly care any more?
I would personally accept changes like strict rules on fielding HG players over foreigners if it had an impact on the team I mean surely it would because managers would have to put effort into finding decent English players, cycling through all kinds of players, unearthing gems etc.
What else could be done/should be done?

I think we're proving that you can do well with a squad made up of mainly English players if you give them a chance.
I'll always support the National side, no matter who's in it or how shit we are. I don't get into it as much I do a Saints game, but I can never understand the people who laugh when England lose and outright support the country that we're playing.
They're all cunts.

Definitely annoys me whenever international football is on instead of the prem. That said I agree with Stu, can't understand people who actively want to see the England team fail. Same people who would probably proudly belt a rendition of God save the queen if England ended up winning it.

I'd like to see the World Cup go one of two ways. Either we win the whole thing or we're out before the start of the quarters.
If we got to say, the semi finals, then lost to Spain, the media would be wanking over how well we did and the fundamental problems with our national team would go ignored despite not actually having anything to show for it. Either we get a trophy or we a get a wake-up call.

I can safely say I don't care about England, axaxaxa
Tell you what though, I have a couple of friends that follow football, support a club but genuinely don't care at all about the Greek national team. Cunts imo.

Even though I'm pretty apathetic towards the national team it does annoy me that every time there's an international break everyone is dying to tell you how much they don't care.

I could do without the amount of international football England play, especially when there was an article that showed their FIFA ranking had dropped because they'd played too many games, means the World Cup is gonna be even more difficult now.

RE: Ireland, I actually have a great passion for the national side in competitive games. When it comes to friendlies however, I just dont care. I'll watch them, but I really dont care.

This and the whole "I don't care that England are playing" shite are my pet peeves. I do care when it gets to actual meaningful matches and I watch every match even if it's just an opportunity to have a few pints at the boozer.

I want England to do well but at times struggle to get up the required passion to follow them. It always kicks back in during the tense times and tournaments though. Perhaps there's too many meaningless friendlies and player pull outs.

Never really bother with the National Team until the major tournaments swing by. Was probably most interested during 2002-2004.

What about stricter rules regarding fielding HG players lads? I'd prefer it because I wanna see more scousers in the Liverpool team in years to come as we could be at risk of losing that tradition when Gerrard's gone and Flano and co. get dropped for more foreign talent.
