Given the way the build up as gone I feel I'm almost obliged to try and charge you just to view this topic. Obviously, the fight that everybody wanted to see 5 years ago is this coming Saturday, ring walk is meant to be about 4am but there'll be the usual shenanigans so expect the start to be delayed and pre-fight rumours of it not happening because Bob Arum wants his toilet paper to be put on the wall under rather than over. Poll at the top of the thread, figured to do a seperate thread given this'll likely have a lot of people watching. I'm leaning towards a Mayweather stoppage, I don't think Pacquaio is stronger than Alvarez or Mosely and both of this didn't give Floyd major problems, plus he's the master counter puncher and I think when Manny starts walking forward he'll get picked off the way Hatton was when he ended up faceplanting the corner.

I'm thinking Mayweather to cruise a points victory.

Been thinking about it for weeks but I've settled on Manny by decision.

People go on about this Vegas thing with Mayweather. Canelo & Maidana I were both scored a draw by one of the judges. Not like he's getting all these questionable decisions is it.

No way is Mayweather stopping Pacquiao, hasn't got the power and the combination of Manny's footwork and general staminha will mean he won't be clumsily walking onto punches and fatiguing like Hatton did. I'm honestly changing my mind by the day. Head says Mayweather will take no risks and fight very safe and very smart, frustrating Pacquiao and picking up rounds with effective counter punching. Other side of me is thinking that Pacquiaos speed, footwork and southpaw stance will cause Floyd problems and that he'll be able to land a lot more than previous opponents ever could. That he'll pick up early rounds whilst Floyd is adapting and then be given a lot of the closer rounds for his high punch output and effective aggression. Floyd may be forced to come out and fight if Pacquiao can land consistently, because sitting back and trying to counter won't win him the rounds. Either way it's a decision, but for who is fucking my brain. ChappyHova explain your thinking on Manny points decision, I need fresh perspective.

Simon It's the foot speed that has done it for me. Maidana and Cotto were both able to get Floyd on to the ropes and they don't have particularly fast feet. Freddie Roach is always saying how he thinks Floyd's legs are shot so I think that's what he is thinking too. People keep saying Marquez is a counter puncher and Floyd is an even better one therefore Floyd will win but watching the Marquez fights back Marquez is completely different to Floyd. He's constantly on his toes keeping his lead foot on the outside of Pacquiao's making it difficult for him to throw but he will also stay there and try to land his own punches. Floyd isn't willing to do that he will always retreat and that's when I think Manny get's him on the ropes gets off a 6 or 7 punch combination and gets out of there. He won't keep him on the ropes like Maidana or Cotto did. He will get his punches off which score points and get out of there, over the course of the fight I think he outworks and outpoints Floyd. Floyd also seems to get hit most by the jab. Oscar landed it, Maidana landed it and Cotto landed it a fuck load and even bloodied Floyd's nose. Manny has a brilliant jab even though it is from the southpaw stance I still reckon he will land it and if not it will be the straight left. Really curious to see if Floyd goes for the shoulder roll or not against a southpaw, I know he did against Ortiz but Ortiz is an inverted southpaw so the left was never really the danger. I'd never have said this a year ago but I've been really thinking about it the last few weeks and that's what I've come to.

The only thing I'm having trouble with is Manny avoiding Floyd's lead right hand which we know Manny get's hit with a lot and it's Floyd's signature punch.

That was lovely to read because it's what I wanted to hear haha. The last couple years I've always said Floyd would win but the last few weeks, not sure if it's been bias or just because of how much I want it to happen, the argument for Manny getting this on points seems to be getting more persuasive.
Honestly can't remember the last time I was so torn on a fight and equally had no idea what's going to happen.

Simon Could be the same for me wanting Manny to win too but usually I manage to stay unbiased. Boxings weird I think. Until it gets really close I don't properly think about it I'll just say oh Floyd will win. When I've started thinking about it and what causes Floyd trouble Manny is perfect for it.

Yeah I usually trust myself to take a step back and look at things rationally.
I've been saying to a friend of mine that I don't know if Manny will do it but if anyone can it's him, he ticks all the boxes that you want for someone capable of beating Floyd. I just hope he comes out with the right game plan.
