In a positive note for Chelsea, Caicedo looks a lot better since he’s got to play against children

Mudryk as your first man to head it away? Interesting

Ridiculous that they've pulled that off with that team.

Chelsea lost most of their threat going forward once Jackson went off, and it got even worse once they switched Gusto. Enzo and Caicedo were pathetically bad, an absolute walking warning to not spend so much money on your defensive midfield positions. Madueke and Mudryk actively made Chelsea worse once they came on. Gusto and Gallagher were good I thought. Konate is an absolute monster 1 on 1, Kelleher had to be MOTM and Luis Diaz is a world class player in waiting. Hard to not be happy for Klopp and the youngsters tbh, Chelsea sneaking a win on pens would have felt rank.

Van Dijk, Konate and Kelleher were all absolutely immaculate. Endo and Mac Allister brilliant too despite clearly being fatigued, cannot believe how poor Caicedo and Enzo were in comparison.
What an amazing moment for those kids, handled the pressure so well.
That being said no idea why Chelsea were lacking so much intensity in extra time, all our senior players were knackered, don't know how Diaz was still on his feet. They deserved nothing.

Think that game shows Poch ain't long for the sack tbh. Look at the extra time huddle or the way players just didn't seem to be playing for him. Literally his whole success at Spurs is as players seemingly running themselves ragged for him and he doesn't seem to have that but in from enough of the Chelsea squad.

Nobody cares about the League Cup until they win it but that was special that. Once it got to extra time I’d accepted Chelsea would win it by a couple of clear goals. It really got to something when Quansah came on and I thought “a bit of experience now anyway”. Bobby Clark was fucking excellent, I’d said to my dad during the Luton game we needed to start giving him more than just 2/3 minutes because he wasn’t able to warm into games properly and he looked really good against Luton but I didn’t expect him to come on and cause so many problems. Won us the corner leading to the winner as well
Gutted I had to leave before they brought the trophy down to the pitch and then was stood up for the entire journey home because the train was overbooked but what a day

Literally his whole success at Spurs is as players seemingly running themselves ragged for him and he doesn't seem to have that but in from enough of the Chelsea squad. At the same time though, what’s the point? Literally every manager they’ve had since Lampard’s first reign looks like they’re struggling to get the best out a talented, but bloated squad which has constant turnover. I get asking the Chelsea board for rational thought is probably asking a lot but when on earth are they going to figure out that this is bigger than any manager? Colwill, Gusto, Palmer, Gallagher and Jackson are all looking improved under him so it’s not like there’s nothing there at all. Though if we’re talking specifically about yesterday, his in-game management was so poor, gave all the impetus back to Liverpool and his changes made Chelsea worse. But let’s face it they should have won that game in 90 minutes, they were pathetically bad in ET but they’re 11th in the Premier League and were better than the league leaders over 90 minutes, so I don’t think it’s as bad as is being reported. But that’s typical modern football, it’s either great or terrible with no room for nuance.

They were better than us once we had 5 kids on the pitch and before that were just about even. This is with our front line consisting of 0 proven goalscorers and a right back who’s played less than 10 senior games for us
If we’d had our strongest team out that would’ve been a bloodbath. They were pathetic. There’s no nuance to be applied here because that was the easiest chance they’re going to get to win a trophy against another top flight team and they wilted when we got younger. Proper mentally weak group

I mean that’s still a front line with two £40m players in there, so painting it as ‘no proven goalscorers’ is an interesting way to put it. First half was fairly even, Liverpool probably shaded it but in the second half Chelsea absolutely should have won the game.

Think there is plenty of (justifiable) glee about the state of Chelsea which adds to lots of the reaction but I’d be hesitant on jumping into bed with Gary Neville with the level of performance yesterday like
Should have won, didn’t, peaks and troughs of performance within the game itself, sitters missed, flashes of quality but no consistent control in midfield, story of the season really
