Don’t think Saka ever should have been put in that position but we hardly had amazing options on the pitch as it was. Would have thought DCL would have been a shout to take one, he takes them regularly at club level at least.
The whole Southgate/Mount meme thing has thankfully been left in the past but fucking hell he was poor last night. Should have came off so much earlier to give us more threat on the counter.

Really interesting numbers there, does make more sense as to why Sterling didn't take one but when we brought on Sancho specifically for the pens it looks like a much weirder decision

Yeah if not for media/fans (not you guys <3) England would have 100% been my second team at the tournament because I do like their team for the most part and they are pretty much all decent people. But seeing the fans pre and post match plus the constant media rimming is what done it for me.
Southgate can learn from this. He got that game wrong imo and it shows he's got a way to go to reach Mancini levels. England have the better players but management edged it.

Penalties are how we lost but they're not why we lost. The annoying thing is that we lost it the exact same way we lost aganst Croatia in many ways. Start well, score, and then slowly let the opposition back into the game as we allow their midfield to run the game, concede and only then make the changes we should have made 10 minutes earlier. All of Southgate's positives were on display in the games prior to this, camaraderie and togetherness along with a solid, hard to beat defence. Unfortunately his flaws were highlighted yesterday, slow and scared to make changes and tactically outclassed. I don't think we should sack him or there should even be pressure on him, we were a coin flip away from winning, but it's just disappointing to not learn from previous mistakes.

Also was VAR broken? Not a single check I can recall and having just seen the Jorginho challenge, was he lucky not to see red? without a doubt a red card in my mind, I was properly shocked they didn’t even check it, I didn’t hear the commentators mention anything about a VAR check, was just a yellow card from the ref and that was it.

Going through pictures I grabbed at full time of the 90 and I really can't believe the game went ahead.

Only coming here to say by the end of that I wanted England to win for nothing more than knowing that if any black player, particularly Rashford, missed their pen they’d be subjected to dogs abuse and I didn’t want to see that happen cos the three lads who missed their penalties seem like absolutely lovely fellas, especially Saka who has the biggest pair of knackers I’ve ever seen on a 19 year old.
That cunt managing him is the one who deserves all the abuse though. Did everything to protect Kane, Maguire and Henderson there by putting the former two on the first pens and the latter taking off the pitch. Threw the rest under the bus and now he’s getting a knighthood for once again failing to deliver at a tournament where they got the easiest route to the final possible.

I honestly can't believe some of the scenes around the ground yesterday. In many ways, it's pretty lucky that there were so many empty seats in the stadium. Could you imagine if it was at capacity and then all these cunts forced their way in as well? Imagine being a 10 year old who managed to get a ticket to that yesterday, would you want to go to any match again?
I gotta say, it's been 26 years since England fans tore up Lansdowne Road and it's fucking depressing that this shit is still happening. I just watched a wee video that ITV had done with Sterling after the Ukraine game, and he was asked if he thought much has changed since he's spoken up about racism and he honestly looked so so tired.
I've dealt with plenty of twats at Irish games and makes you sick that lads wearing Ireland jerseys will make that impression abroad etc., so can't imagine what it's like having knuckle draggers like those ones yesterday being the prominent representation of your country in so many people's minds.

I see Harry Kane has come out with the "If you abuse anyone on social media you're not an England fan" bullshit. This is such a cop out and it fucking infuriates me when I see people use it. It's not denying the problem exists but it's fucking close. Face up to the fact there's a sizeable chunk of England fans who act abhorrently. You need to face up to it before it can be tackled properly. This sort of deflection is designed only as self-preservation and a weak as shit way of speaking out against it.

He's not saying it as if Oh they're not proper England fans, to me he's saying if you hold those views then this team isn't for you. Two very different things. There is a huge element within the England supporters base that needs challenging for their behaviours - but I can guarantee the majority of the abuse and racism came from people who were nowhere near the ground last night.

How can you guarantee that? This is the sort of bullshit that needs to be called out. Thousands of people at England games have been booing players taking the knee over the last month and you're still in denial?
