At what point do we start saying Spurs aren't in a bad period and admit that we're coming up on halfway through the season and they're yet to put in a remotely exciting performance. I don't think winning margins define how good a team is, but Spurs' biggest margin has been 2 goals, against Norwich at home against one of the worst away sides in the league, and Villa away, one of the worst home sides. Even we were poor at the start, grinding out three 1-0 wins, and I did think that ourselves and Spurs would slowly gather pace together, but while we've rocketed and steamrolled most teams (bar Southampton fuck off Stu) who've come to Anfield, Spurs have either lost or struggled, mostly against lesser teams. They're in a serious rut and it's only because teams around them have been equally shite that they're not way down the table. 15 goals is an awful return for 16 games. daveyposhboy only difference is, when you spend £100m, you expect at least 3/4 of that investment to start clicking immediately. Only Chirches and Paulinho could really say that they have performed well, Soldado has been gash, Capoue has been unlucky etc. So you either sack the manager who can't get his signings to work (like we did with Kenny and look, Suarez becomes a world class scorer, Henderson becomes a solid player capable of dominating midfield) or you stick with it and watch your team rot because your manager hasn't got a clue how to fit in big-money signings that he didn't even make but has to assume responsibility for.

That was an impressive performance. Big win given what had gone before as well. Midfield was superb. Really solid footing for 4th now. Couldn't be happier for Jon Flannagan, his commitment is fantastic. And 17 in 11 for Suarez. Wow. Imagine how many it would have been if Coutinho played well? I think I'm going to enjoy a stroll to the pub now. Struggling to think of a better away performance that I've seen in the past few years, certainly the best under Rodger's tenure for me. Absolute brilliant team performance, even though Henderson will get the plaudits in that midfield 3 (and rightly so), Joe Allen's pressure and performance all game was superb for me, he's rebounded well since proving he can't finish against the Bitters. Absolutely overjoyed for Flanno as well, could see how much that meant for him. Love it. Got so much love for this gif.

Of course players need time to click. How are they going to click however when the system doesn't seem to include them (and has had no changes or tweaks to try and do so), and the biggest purchase doesn't even get a game? Obviously it's difficult. I'm not denying it isn't. But "it's taking time to gel" is an excuse I'd accept if it were the start of October, not nearing the half way point of the season. At which point do we stop saying "it's taking time", and start accepting how insipidly awful we've been?
Hiddink until summer. And what if he doesn't like the players AVB brought in? AVB doesn't seem to like the players AVB brought in.
This isn't kneejerk. Have you seen how many times I've defended him this year? I've said repeatedly that "it'll get better!", "look at the points!", "it's a new side!". But today we came up against a Liverpool side that has had a manager for as long as we've had. The difference was night and day - Liverpool had a system that was clear, coherent and concise, and ripped us to shreds. We had no plan B. Hell, we had no plan A. I could accept results like today if it looked like it was getting better. But it isn't. It looked like it was against Sunderland & Fulham, but then we made more mistakes and were hammered again. How many thrashings are we going to have to take before he realises certain things don't work?
AVB doesn't want to be here in 10 years, he wants to be a fucking F1 racer. I understand the concept of the project. At the moment though, there are no signs it's working, and there are no signs it's going to work in the near future either. Today was a game against a team we should be finishing above, and we were utterly pulverized. There is no excuse for that.
EDIT: We had zero shots on target today.
Zero.
None.
And according to Andre, 0-5 to Liverpool and 0-6 to Man City are "expressive scorelines". Can we have a manager who doesn't speak like a fucking soothsayer?

Think I'm some sort of negative prophet. I foresaw both heavy defeats this season. Or maybe I can just see the problems with our team better than our own fucking manager.
Could only listen today, probably best I didn't see any of it. Suarez is incredible though, sooner someone buys him, the better. Got an idea of how others felt re: Bale now, except this season he's outdoing Bale's form last year by some distance. Just unreal. Must have been licking his lips looking at our defence. Sounded like Henderson was superb too. Fair play to the lad.
Not sure where AVB lies now. Sacking him would be knee jerk, but you wouldn't say it's undeserved. Everytime we've lost this season, we've failed to score. You lose 6-0 away to City and you hold your hands up and say "well, they're pretty good", but when you get stuffed at home to Liverpool without 3/4 players (yes, we had some missing too admittedly) and most importantly West Ham who didn't even play a striker, questions need to be asked, and answered. If I were Levy, he'd have until the United game on New Years day. Got to win the majority over Christmas to keep any chance of the top 4 alive.
Spurs this season have been shit, and then we have massive, massive off days where we get pumped and look like a conference side. It's just bizarre. Almost as if we don't know how to play fire with fire.
not too disappointed that Dawson and Paulinho are suspended though.

I hope to God, Spurs don't get Hiddink.
Tbh though, I don't know how his name is being thrown about though.

Well he's managing Holland in the summer and I'd guess he'd like six months to get back into the swing of things.
I'm more saying it out of hope than anything tbh

I remember a few seasons ago before we signed Torres a "20 goal a season striker" was talked about. Insane that we have one at the minute that has 17 already. Suarez has a scoring record of Messi/Ronaldo proportions this season already if he keeps it up.

Star of Spurs & Gianni Infantino all good points, well made tbh. I have been silenced! Suarez and Henderson are a class above as well. Not gonna rate Sterling too much off today's game because Naughton is a fucking melt but the former two made our middle and backline look like utter wank (admitted, Dawson is such). Need more kirikessshhhhh

Hell man, it's not like I wanted him to be a failure. I believed in the guy so, so much, and it's just sad how it's seeming to reach this inevitability. Maybe it's because he got an unfair amount of abuse after being appointed, maybe it's because he has shown signs of being amazing but mostly it's because I really, really thought he'd lead us to something good.

oh man don't give me those puppy dog eyes Really do feel for him. I do. At least one of the big signings has been made without his input. Mycon if I'm not wrong, and he carries on in the same vein this season, Suarez would be the first top scorer in the Premier League era with a record better than a goal per game.

He'll come good somewhere. He has to.
Must be wishing he took the PSG job now.
