Would've liked to have seen Farah in the top 3. Seems like a good guy.

Sadly Athletics won't get a look in by people unless it's an Olympic year. The rest of the time it's niche and alien to most casual followers of sport.

Froome is unlucky, suppose people don't care as much about the Tour de France once the novelty of being the first winner goes away.

Not just that though, Wiggins last year also won the Olympics straight after which guaranteed him it. Wouldn't say it's a novelty, moreso the magnitude of the achievement is heightened the longer the period prior has been unsuccessful.

Murray should have won it last year aswell.
Awards are much better in a non olympic year.

I thought Mo Farah would of got top 3 for his achievements in the cube.
Very much deserved for Murray though.

Andy Murray's had a fantastic year in terms of sporting achievement but he's really not a personality, the dour cunt Hate that view, anybody who see's even the slightest amount of him outside of tv interviews knows that's not true. BBC documentary showed as much. Murray will get given the trophy out in Miami during his training. Sign of his proffesionalism that he won't fly back for an award he actually values quite highly in order not to risk a set back in his recovery from injury. Joey Barton's entire twitter is dedicated to painting himself as the thinking man's Mahatma Gandhi but the idea still persists that he's a violent moron The fact that it's such a widespread view that Murray only ever smiles when he's told to by his coach makes you wonder how it's come about if it's not grounded in truth fwiw I don't think any of the nominees bar Farah have ever demonstrated a personality. They should really just drop the -ality from the whole thing and then Murray's a worthy winner

If only Andy Murray was more like Paul Gascoigne.

The British public prefers to plucky loser than the man who is successful. Sad really.

His mother looks like an obsessed alien. Grinds my fucking gears looking at her. Although, I like the fact Murray is a gloomy fuck tbh.

The British public prefers to plucky loser than the man who is successful. Sad really. If being a multiple grand slam winner and winning the biggest slam of them all this year makes him a "plucky loser", what would make him a winner? Also people can bugger off. When he tried to show personality when he was younger (eg joking with Tim Henman about football) he was blasted by the media and some of the English hated him after it was reported wrongly, its those same people now who are moaning about him having no personality that also gave him it tight back in 2006. I dont blame him for not being open and being reserved in interviews after what happened.

Who said it was about making him look good? It was about showing people what Andy Murray is like away from tournaments, away from press conferences, actually providing an insight into him. Echo the sentiments about his mother though.

They should really just drop the -ality from the whole thing and then Murray's a worthy winner It's come about because, as Jambo says, in interviews since he was torn to pieces for his joke with Henman about not supporting England he's been utterly deadpan and boring so as to not create any unnecessary distractions. Anybody who pays more attention to him realises what he's like when he's not putting on the monotonous approach appreciates this, but it just so happens that for most people tennis is a minority sport apart from two weeks a year and so they only ever see/hear from him maybe three or four times a year outside of that. His true side shined through in his charity match at queens. Don't get how he's not a worthy winner?

It was on the BBC and it wasn't meant to make him look good? C'mon lol.. it was around the time of Wimbledon, very much still one of the BBC's favourite annual events it's obviously in their interests to whip everyone up into a frenzy and make Murray out to look a fantastic guy everyone should get behind. It had no chance of being impartial, the whole thing was essentially a total wankfest. I don't really care about him either way btw but that documentary was an obvious PR exercise.
