Or as it will be known later, let's slate Andy Murray for not being there live. 10 candidates, only a few of them are tokens this year. Andy Murray is the overwhelming favourite, but let me summarise for you to make this all pretty. Ben Ainslie
Sailor who took charge of the American boat in the Americas Cup and helped them overturn an 8-1 deficit to win 9-8. Ian Bell
Man of the series during the last Ashes series. Hannah token Cockcroft
Paralympian who won the 100m and 200m at the World Championships. Mo Farah
Athlete who became only the second man ever to win the 5k and 10k double at both Olympics and World Championships. Chris Froome
Cyclist who followed Wiggins to ensure back-to-back British born abroad Tour De France winners.
Leigh Halfpenny Rugby player who won man-of-the-series for his part in the Lions victorious tour down under.
AP McCoy First jockey to reach 4000 career wins.
Andy Murray Hero.
Christine Ohuruogu Athlete who won the 400m at the World Championships by a nipple (literally).
Justin Rose Golfer who in winning the US Open became the first Englishman to win a major since 1996.
Murray is the clear favourite, and rightly so. Be nice for Farah to be appreciated, felt last year he was unlucky to miss out due to the quality of the field. Just as long as he doesn't do that fucking mobot he should get people on his side. Third is anyones guess, I'd personally give it to Froome.

More of a personality than 90% of the people who're nominated with him.

Andy Murray's had a fantastic year in terms of sporting achievement but he's really not a personality, the dour cunt Hate that view, anybody who see's even the slightest amount of him outside of tv interviews knows that's not true. BBC documentary showed as much. Murray will get given the trophy out in Miami during his training. Sign of his proffesionalism that he won't fly back for an award he actually values quite highly in order not to risk a set back in his recovery from injury.

Halfpenny also kicked most of the welsh points for their six nations title win too. It'll be the Murray fawning exhibition though.

Fully deserved.
Mccoy getting third was no surprise, racing community usually votes strong.
Halfpenny getting second is a big shock. Yet again no widespread love for Farah, must be slightly disheartening for him given he seems to really care about being liked.
Ferguson award was awfully done, blatant fawning.

Halfpenny coming 2nd was deserved IMO. I found it odd that BBC glossed over his Six Nations performance and pushed his Lions performance to the moon though, especially since their broadcasting rivals had coverage of the latter and they had coverage for the former.

Andy Murray won SPOTY with more than 50% of vote Murray 401,470 Halfpenny 65,913 McCoy 57,854 Farah 51,945 Ainslie 48,140 Froome 37,343 Cockroft 26,151 Ohuruogu 13,179 Rose 9,833 Bell 5,626 Total 717,454
Huge win for Murray as expected. Pretty shocked that Farah and Froome weren't 2/3 though.

Poor Ian Bell coming bottom. Guarantee he'd be higher on that list if England weren't getting massacred by the backpacker murderers at the moment

Halfpenny coming 2nd was deserved IMO. I found it odd that BBC glossed over his Six Nations performance and pushed his Lions performance to the moon though, especially since their broadcasting rivals had coverage of the latter and they had coverage for the former. Didn't really gloss over it, showed nearly all of the scores of the Wales/England game in hyping him up and his performance in the Lions was far greater and deserved more recognition, plus appeals to a greater audience. They also had coverage rights for everything, something I'm surprised they were able to do. And nah, in terms of achievements Farah was an easy second place and Froome third is hard to argue with imo. Far easier to quantify the quality of performances and achievements in individual sports. McCoy is up there for his career achievements rather than achievements this year.
