More blame on Coutinho for me though. Been really disappointing this season, he's no good out side but it's how we're set up while Sturridge is out.
Could have really done with him, his pace would have caused that defence a lot of problems. As good as Suarez is, pacey he isn't. Their deep line meant he couldn't play Sterling in from deep like he did against City.

What a fuss, saw bits and bobs of the game but not that much so can't judge but sounds like the ref had a shocker for both teams. Going off of BBC live text Liverpool can claim they were quite unlucky though? Looking forward to MOTD tonight at least.

Find it odd that everyone is still going on about the fucking strikers at Chelsea when to me it's pretty clear that it's the deep 2 in midfield that's the issue. The ball is always too slow and too erratic coming out of midfield to the front 4 to be any use. Lo and behold you put a really good footballer with high energy levels in there like David Luiz and Chelsea's performance goes up a few gears. Sorry, I no were not perfect in centre midfield but the problem IS the strikers. Regardless of his goal Eto'o was poor again today. Torres isn't much better and Ba isn't cut out for this level. We need a top quality striker who can score on a regular basis. Who'd you go for out of interest?

Have you watched us at all recently? Like in any of the (many) shitty performances? Everything's slow, so so slow when we have the ball. How is the striker meant to effect that?
I'm not saying the strikers we have are world class but with a stronger, faster midfield there would be less of a focus. Everything is so slow it's fucking painful to watch. I'd rather we started Luiz or focussed on bringing in someone in that position than spunking a stupid amount of money on someone like Falcao.

Sorry you're asking Mike to base his opinions off something other than goals. Asking far too much.

Modric was perfect for Chelsea, happy they didn't get him.

Always thought someone like Hernandez suits our style of play. With 3 attacking midfielders who like to play quick passes between themselves, we just need a quick poacher who's always looking for that empty space. Think Hernandez's positional awareness is amazing tbh.

Aye, all those prolific goalscorers whose careers have grown at Chelsea in recent years.

I would kill for David Luiz alongside Yaya in midfield. Suarez needs a rest as well imo.

If I'm a world class striker I'm going anywhere but chelsea. There is more to your strikers not cutting it than meets the eye. You're whole system and style don't suit strikers that don't primarily create for themselves. Suarez Rooney and Aguero are the only strikers I could see being successful at chelsea, and you're not getting them. would you deem a good return from a world class forward coming in on January first? because unless you're very kind, I guarentee there isn't one out there that isn't called Luis Wayne or Sergio capable of meeting it in your current team.

I must say, Forest have a similar problem to Chelsea I think. Last year we had Billy Sharp on loan, who's scored goals at literally every other club he's played for, but was far less prolific for us, and looking at our recent history with strikers, there's a similar theme. Henderson scored bag loads for Milwall, moves here, barely scores, Sharp, same story, back in the day same with Neil Harris and Jack Lester, it's an odd one. I think a lot of it for us is just due to the type of midfielders we have, but I don't know if it's the same at Chelsea. Lansbury, Reid, etc for us all have a penchant for a spectacular goal and a good cross, but aren't the best at just providing good service for strikers, and that limits the amount of goals we're going to score. I've said it a few times to mates but we just aren't the sort of team that's gonna have a 20 goal + a season striker, but we will have about 6 or 7 decent amounts from other attacking players to make up for that, similar to Chelsea I think.
