Problem is that it's hard to see next season as being anything but a season of transition either, thinking about the likely departures in the summer they've probably got at least another season of this. A lot depends on just how crap they can afford to do, would think they could afford one year out the Champions League (both in a financial and reputation sense). But if they have a couple of poor years and clubs like Liverpool and Spurs grow (the only two you could realistically see becoming 'bigger' from those around them currently, clubs like Everton or Newcastle won't), you can't really see any of the current top 3 not being contenders any time soon, they could quickly start to look like not that attractive proposition. But money talks and I doubt they're going to be short of that any time soon, so I reckon they'll be fine.

So literally all he did was come in for a few months fuck things up and resign haha. Star of Spurs I think even Levy might realise that at this point he doesn't have enough capital left to burn in selling our best player. Again. Although then I do just remind myself that he sold Bale for no fucking reason other than the fact that a massive wad of cash (we'll never see it but it'll look nice in the long term business plans which will probably outlive him) was dangled in from of him.

I think Lloris is a great keeper but I wouldn't be too bothered if he went, a keepers a keeper at the end of the day you can pick a Prem standard one for £5m or you can pick a Prem standard one with a sexy name for £35m

Newcastle have said that we won't be replacing Kinnear this season.
imo he shouldn't be replaced at all. I don't think we need a DOF to sanction our transfers. Did perfectly well when Graham Carr was scouting the players and Pardew was signing them.

It's not like if you bought Augero he'd actually go out and win you games games. Having Lloris wouldn't change much from having any decent keeper in the league.

Disenchanted I remember reading an article at the time that the money we spent was just money Lewis invested or had as surplus in the club's books. Was a pretty long winded read with more economic lingo than I could understand but the jist was that we didn't need to sell Bale because we weren't really breaking our balls money wise even having bought so many players, and we could have afforded to keep him for another season (bearing in mind that he would have had to play eventually, and was hardly going to lose value). Which was why avb was pissed that Levy sold Bale because he basically made that decision on his own. Which is why he should be replaced imo.

Spurs had to sell Bale for £80m, he could break his leg or something and you'd never see that sort of money again. Simply too good to refuse.

levy is a fantastic businessman but i can't tell if he's either not taking us seriously or is just naive
he seriously seems to expect us to continue this ascent we had going for the past few years to the peak, and whilst it's fantastic to have an owner with ambition he seems to assume we can do it whilst cutting costs every season. we can't. it's the plain and simple truth. there's a reason city paid £360m in transfer fees alone before they won the league, and there's a reason why arsenal paid the £40m for ozil - it's because you have to spend to get where you want to go.
you do not win titles by selling luka modric & rafa van der vaart and replacing them with dembele & dempsey, the same way you miss out on champion's league football because you refuse to pay the extra £500k for moutinho. maybe it'll help when we finally build a fucking stadium, but nothing has happened with that since the stratford debacle. we really did miss the boat these past few years to assert ourselves in the top four at the expense of arsenal
