levy is a fantastic businessman but i can't tell if he's either not taking us seriously or is just naive he seriously seems to expect us to continue this ascent we had going for the past few years to the peak, and whilst it's fantastic to have an owner with ambition he seems to assume we can do it whilst cutting costs every season. we can't. it's the plain and simple truth. there's a reason city paid £360m in transfer fees alone before they won the league, and there's a reason why arsenal paid the £40m for ozil - it's because you have to spend to get where you want to go. you do not win titles by selling luka modric & rafa van der vaart and replacing them with dembele & dempsey, the same way you miss out on champion's league football because you refuse to pay the extra £500k for moutinho. maybe it'll help when we finally build a fucking stadium, but nothing has happened with that since the stratford debacle. we really did miss the boat these past few years to assert ourselves in the top four at the expense of arsenal It surprised me to learn that Spurs have made net profit of £32m in the past three seasons. It seems as though you're spending more money than you are but you're selling so many players every year too.

the funny thing is if we'd have just spent that £32m on gary cahill, fernando llorente, joao moutinho or oscar when we had the chance we might be in a far better position right now and not need to cut costs to make money
that's the other thing, the complete lack of continuity. we seem to lurch from one end of the footballing spectrum to another with every appointment. we don't seem to have any practical idea of what we as a club are doing - tim sherwood was technically working beside avb, but their styles of football are polar opposites, how can you possibly have the u21 manager be so dissimilar to the head coach? we also have baldini, who i maintain made some good signings, but we must have made a mega balls up of communication if this season's anything to go by which is exactly when a DoF doesn't work
god help our next manager, because he's going to have to try and achieve something we've only outlined conceptually working under a very real stringent philosophy of cutting every conceivable corner

Erik Lamela is fast becoming the flop of the season y'know. Thought he would be class as well (still could be for all we know).

Yeah exactly. £30 million for someone who never gets played.

yeah can't really call him a flop when he hasn't played hardly any football, Soldado is moreso
we sold Bale because his head was goneeee with Real, although I'm pretty sure Levy would've sold him for that much anyway, too good to turn down

erik lamela has started four fewer premier league games than kyle naughton
if that's not an indicator that something is badly wrong with our backroom staff then i don't know what is

Course you can call him a flop lol, it doesn't mean he's a bad player or won't turn out well but when you pay £30m you expect way more than this.

a few decent flashes here and there aren't exactly worth £30m though. whatever way people dress it up you can't get away from the fact that he's been a major disappointment, calling him a flop so far isn't exactly a big shout

It's all just such a farce that I've given up. Genuinely think I could do a better job as manager

Lamela has flopped. Cant see how he hasnt. He cost 30m and cant get in the team. It's not to say he is a shit player, but he seemingly hasnt adapted to the English game hence why the flashes of brilliance have come against a bunch of shit in the EL. Nobody in our squad deserves high praise for any performance thus far in Europe, those teams were wank. Might be a slow burner like Bale and in a couple of years he'll be off to Real thanks to our partnership with them which for some odd reason never seems to be anything other than "sell us your best player", but for this season so far, he's flopped. Soldado has flopped massively. I feel for him the same as I did Pavlyuchenko; He doesnt fit the system at all, he's a finisher and we havent played with one of them since.... god knows, Les Ferdinand?. It's really not his fault, he feeds off great service into the box and our high line means the striker rarely, if ever, has the chance to break the offside trap on the 18-yard-line or deeper (problem we had with Darren Bent) and by the time our wingers actually put the ball into the box it's too late and both centre halves have him covered (problem we had with Pavlyuchenko). I think the major issue we'll have in the future with Soldado is trying to fit him, Adebayor, Eriksen and two wide players into the team without going three at the back. That wont happen with Sherwood at the helm and with the way Adebayor has been of late I can see Soldado being sold in the summer. Eriksen, Chiriches and Paulinho are the only summer signings that have shown anything truly positive in the PL. Capoue hasnt done himself a disservice and his only bad game was at CB against Liverpool so it's hard to judge, plus considering he might already have been shown where the door is kinda suggests he might not be around much longer. If Sherwood lasts his contract (I have my doubts, I think he's in until the summer and he'll be shooed off pretty quickly after the last game of the season) I think half of our current squad will be gone and we'll be back to the old Levy happy for us to finish 8th as long as we're turning a yearly profit. In fairness, we probably need to do that to get the stadium built, if that's ever actually going to happen because what we've done with all our huge transfer income over the past five years is spend, spend, spend. Anyway, moving away from a shambles to a farce. where's Llambias when you need him, probably could have got £60m for him, plus interest.
