Just a friendly debate. Do you think Roy Hodgson should remain in charge of England after the World Cup? How do you see England going forward in terms of coaching staff and playing personnel?

No. Thank him for his hard work, part on pleasant terms, but bring in somebody to go through the four year cycle (and thus a four year contract) where a lot of the promising players from now should be in their prime come Russia.
Problem is who.

Honestly have no idea. Can anyone think of a realistic suitable replacement? I want to back him but after seeing our style of play, our set pieces both offensively and defensively I really can't fathom what we work on in training.

You know it's not massively farfetched for England to go through?
Italy win by 2 tomorrow (not unlikely)
England win and Italy win on Tuesday means they're through. Not unfathomable is it?

Even if England won the World Cup I'd still be adamant that Hodgson isn't the man to develop these players over the next 4 years.

Let's say we don't go through and the pressure mounts on Hodgson. I can't think of a good replacement who would want to join straight away. I think we should see how a few qualifiers go under Roy and then we'll take it from there.

He isn't the biggest problem right now. The problem is the way that the English game has become.

Woy is 102, he has nowt much left anyway. He'll be gone, for age if not ability.

Also, not sure how tongue in cheek this thread is cos there's a lot of knee jerky mongs here (myself included), but how many genuinely thought 0/6 was unlikely after the draw?
Certainly wasn't lol.

It's neither tongue in cheek nor knee jerk. I didn't think Hodgson was right when he was hired, after the euros, throughout qualification or right now. But that's my opinion of him as a coach in general. Right now there is a different point. There is a group of exciting young players there than need developing. Much like Germany 4 years ago. Is Hodgson the right man to do that? Regardless of his record at this World Cup and beforehand, absolutely not.

There is no logical replacement.
