Thomas Cook going under seems to have massively bumped the price up on package holidays.
Also, Disneyland Paris is a fucking rip off and can go fuck itself.

Gf spent over three grand I think it was all in all staying in a Toy Story themed cabin. Pictures of the room and all that she was entitled to was immense but thinking of the city breaks I could have tried more to talk her into is depressing lol Think as far as private rooms that was pretty lowend as well. I know there's one that is £10,000 a night though that might be in the actual castle so you know fair fucks

Even the park tickets are like £70 upwards. Disgusting. Dare not even look at the on site hotels.

Think we were about 4k for 5 nights in one of the cabins, park tickets and one of the food packages for 5 of us, would've been double that to stay in the park itself.

Best places to go in Spain? Thinking Madrid, Valencia and another, preferably smaller place for the summer.
Already done Bilbao & San Sebastián, going to Seville in April and willing to miss Barcelona this time.

Santiago de Compostela and Malaga are both good but they’re either south or north east so a stretch from where you are.
I think Murcia is a good place to go even if I’m a bit biased and it’s on the same coast as Barca and Valencia, a coach from Valencia to Murcia is about an hour and a half. Not great for tourists because it’s very Spanish (or at least not 5 years ago anyway) but I’ve had some of the best food in my life from Murcia.

I’ve only been to Barca and Torrevieja. Barca highly highly highly recommend, Torrevieja had nothing to it really, was just visiting the parents.

Literally still on the plane waiting to disembark after 24 hours in Madrid and I love the place.
I'll whack a few bits here later as there's quite a few stunning places in Spain you can make into a trip

Cheers. Booked flights last night, into Valencia and out of Madrid. Think we are gonna do four nights in each and two in a town by Valencia called Peniscola, which looks lovely.
I did start the day looking at Murcia Paul, looks good, from brief research though it took a good few hours to get there. Is that where your family are from?
I’ve half done Barca a couple of times now Conor, it’s been brilliant but definitely looking to get back and do it properly.

Nah my family is from Getxo near Bilbao but Murcia is where I stayed during my year abroad. Getxo itself is so similar to Bilbao it’s not worth going. Practically like a suburb of Bilbao itself, I wouldn’t recommend it tbh.

Good luck with public transport travelling to and around Murcia if you go.
It's more underfunded than the UK

We did the opposite g7vikings and flew into Madrid and took the AVE train to Valencia but it's an easy enough trip, think it's under 2 hours on the high speed trains. You may have already done some of the below in Madrid but chucking it in anyway. Football is self explanatory really - Bernabeu is a must if there's a game on, don't bother venturing all the way out to the Wanda unless you can catch a game, Getafe is easy to get to but besides the ground there's not much else around, and Rayo Vallecano would be an experience. Museums - We went into the Prado after 6pm because they had free entry. Queue was quite large but moved quickly. It was shite. Loads of historical paintings of people I had no knowledge of nor desire to learn about. If you've seen on portrait you've seen them all. The Reina Sofia Museum was much better, more modern art and exhibits, loads of Picasso's works, Dali's, and lots of Goya's including Guernica depicting the civil war. Food - Unreal. You'll do well to find somewhere bad to eat to be honest, as long as you follow the usual tips about not eating at the main tourist traps you'll be good. The main area for tapas bars and the like is just south of Sol station. I took us to Casa Toni on Tuesday and it's about as authentic as you can get in Madrid. Healthy portions, cheap, friendly owners, tiny bar, free pinxtos and shots to finish with. Mercat de San Miguel has some great food but it's a bit packed and pricey for what it is. We stayed in Malasana this week and there's some amazing bars and cafes dotted around. You absolutely HAVE to go to Chocolateria San Gines too. It's a 24 hour churros bar with pure melted chocolate, they're so good. Other stuff to do - Madrid Zoo has baby panda bears and brown bears that wave. Parque de Atracciones is next to the zoo, easily accessed on the metro and has some unique rollercoasters and rides. Parque Warner de Madrid is a bit of a pain to get to but has some of the better rollercoasters in Europe. Retiro Parque is huge, has loads to do and see and is a really chill place if the weather is nice. Templo de Debod was a stunning place to watch the sunset overlooking the city below. We also ventured out to the Faro de Moncloa for an aerial view of the city. Not the greatest because the glass was all stained and there was nothing much else around. Toledo - People usually suggest a day trip to either Segovia or Toledo. We did Toledo and it was absolutely stunning. It's nothing more than a day trip, but it's worth it. A brilliant Youtube channel to pour over is James Blick - www.youtube.com/channel/UCo1HWB7bmrjpscWdZ5Xx3XwValencia had less to do than Madrid but was still great. The city centre is a maze of classic streets and buildings. The town hall was free to go in and wander around (we just appreciated getting out of the sun). The cliche place to go is the city of arts and sciences but it is absolutely stunning. The science museum was the best bit there but even if you don't go inside anywhere, it's decent. The old riverbed through the city has been transformed into multiple parks and attractions too. The food market was the best place to grab some cheap local food too, we just wandered around picking up taster pots for a euro each.
