For a case that's so clearly in the grey area - the fact he got convicted then cleared shows it wasn't a clearcut case at all - so many people are extremely on one side. An awful lot of shite said by both sides.

For a case that's so clearly in the grey area - the fact he got convicted then cleared shows it wasn't a clearcut case at all - so many people are extremely on one side. An awful lot of shite said by both sides. This sums my opinion up and why I've avoided talking about it on social media since the overturned verdict. It's clearly in the grey area. It's a bad case for all sides and absolutely damaging for rape victims and the legitimacy they are viewed with in popular, especially young male, culture which to me is the biggest loser in all this. People saying she should go to prison etc. or saying people who slagged off Evans, when he was convincted guilty of rape, should now feel ashamed or issue some sort of public apology are wrong. But people who were convinced he was guilty after the first verdict and are now saying 'well he obviously just got away with it' are equally wrong. In the end they've both paid a high price for what problably amounts to a very stupid mistake on both their parts. What is most damaging is the 'oh she's probably a attention seeking liar' mindset that has been perpetuated and will probably stop other rape victims coming forward or see them lambasted if they do.

Twitter is fuckin awful if you search through anything re women's rights/rape tbh. When that Brock Turner guy got off so lightly even though he's a convicted rapist, the replies people were getting were sick
