GG Merc. Absolutely crazy decision.

Stupid decision but tbf, it was based off of outdated telemetry because Monaco is the only track on the calendar that doesn't have timing loops that give round-the-clock track positions, only sectors. Even more reason to be rid of it, absolute borefest. I get why the drivers like it, I get the prestige of it, but it's fucking boring.
Bit on BBC about how good Hamilton has been. On Thursday practice his first lap getting to grips with the circuit was 10 seconds a lap faster than everyone else, including Rosberg. It took 10 minutes before anybody even got within 4 seconds of him.
Verstappen was great today, loved that even the other teams acknowledged him being sneaky by shadowing Vettel who was lapping cars and sneaking in behind.

Said to my dad when Rosberg was seeming to close in that Hamilton might've just been letting him back in and slowing Rosberg down by getting in Hamilton's dirty air before pulling away again. Whether that's what he did I don't know but that was dominant.

Fucking boring race. There's no way that Mercedes chassis alone is 30 seconds a race quicker than the next nearest car, the engines they're selling on to Williams/Lotus/Force India are clearly sub-standard.

Something has gone badly wrong with Fernando Alonso's ridiculous 20 place grid penalty plus in-race penalties for changing an engine. Vettel got a 5 place grid penalty for passing under red flags. Why does changing an engine carry such harsh punishments, its crazy.

Because he's used up all of his units. After like 8 races. Which is pathetic by any standard.

And they chose to take as many hits as they could at this race, where they expected to do bad anyway, than at the next two tracks where they expect to be better.

This has been a spectacularly boring season.

Aye was thinking the same during that race. It wouldn't be so bad if Rosberg/Hamilton were actually racing each other but they're not at the moment. Ferrari's are no way near regardless of what they keep saying during the race build up to drum up interest.
Also not really helped that there's been no real rain during races.
Absolute state of McLaren too.

The question I keep coming back to is how has it changed so much? I genuinely loved last season, every race had excitement of some sort. Cars haven't really changed yet there's been 1, maybe 2 decent races this season.

Last year there were more retirements and more restrictions because everybody had a blank canvas so reliability was down and therefore races were more unpredictable.
We're a season in so the teams with the biggest budgets have been able to spend more money developing their cars and pull away, there's just too big a disparity between engines at the moment, to the point chassis are almost irrelevant and the drivers pretty much definitely are irrelevant; if you're not got the right engine behind you you're going nowhere.
I've been one of the people actually defending F1 but after sitting through the last few races I really cba watching the next few.

I'll still watch it, couldn't not watch a GP as a life-long fan but yeah, it's hardly entertaining right now. Next two races hardly have reputations for being classics either.

Standard procedure when new rules come in, it's always a bit more competitive but then it just goes to shit again. F1 is having a hard time of making itself appealing these days. The logistics of budget caps or universal budgets are nightmarish but I think it's something the sport needs. Let the engineers and technicians shine through more than the constructor's money.

Called it being a shit season, such a shame with so much talent on the grid. Was Red Bull for a few years, now it'll just be Mercedes for a few years. Wouldn't mind it if they were both good at the same time, 4 drivers fighting for the win would be better than 2 and in both those situations - I've never truly at any one time believed it's much of a challenge because 1 driver has always been much better than the other - Vettel >>> Webber & Hamilton >>> Rosberg.
It's not even the main issue anymore but I really, really hate the 10 position points thing, stop being so democratic and get back to a top 6.
Would love to see Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso, Hulkenberg, Button & Ricciardo fighting out in similar-ish cars with I'm sure Kyvat, Rosberg, Bottas & Massa around there too - I've left Kimi out because I'm not sure where he's at the moment, I think he's lost some of his essential pace that made him so great and would put him comfortably in that top group.
