Silly me, I should be grateful I pay four times what my cousin does because he was born in 93. Read my post again, understand the words in my post, then apologise to me for being a cretin.

Still don't see how I benefit. I'm still going to be in four times as much debt. If university serves its purpose and I come out of it with a decent paying job, over £21,000, then the first two points are moot.
Not apologising sorry hun x

It's money you'll never see though, and if you get the job you want that £50 a month tax or whatever it is won't really make a difference in comparison to the degree that led you to that position surely?

Aye but as someone who panics about stuff they probably shouldn't, a giant £50k hanging over my head will always worry me.

How are the first two moot?
I pay back 9% of what I earn over £16,910 per year. I was on £21k in Jan 2013, I'd pay £368.10 per year. You pay back 9% of what you earn over £21,000 per year. If you earned £21k in a year, you'd pay £0 per year. Your loan is written off after 25 years of being eligible to make repayments or when you turn 65. Realistically, it's just a tax for 25 years.
Assuming we have the same career salary for the 25 years, you'll always be £368.10 better off per year. £9,202.50 for the 25 years. Before tax obv.
I don't know what lofty expectations you have of what your wage would be but the average is £26.5k atm. Which is nowhere near enough to even think of paying off my £14k loan over the 25 years taking interest into account - on my pay scheme. I honestly do not know why people have such a whinge about student loans and getting them repaid. It's basically an extra tax that, if you're lucky enough to earn enough to get it paid off before it expires, it ain't gonna make a difference anyway.
The fact you think you're in a worse off position cos this unattainable debt that you'll never pay off anyway is higher shows you don't have a clue how student loan repayments work (and tbh nor should you, I didn't until I started working and looked into it).
Also it doesn't affect your credit rating anyway so that's the only difference I can think of other than the above I've covered off.

On a side note, I've not paid any student loan since August and there's not a damn thing they can do about it.

Unless you look at your monthly pay you wouldn't even realise the Student Loans are taking money out

I mean you could get annoyed that you know you're more than likely never going to pay it off, so although it's never a nuisance to you really the increase to 9k means more and more people won't pay off their loans an something is gonna have to be done to cover the shortfall (tax increase, budget cut or whatever) that may or may not have a direct impact on your lie.
Tis a stretch though.

rofl I could swear that the pair who collect toy clowns were taken straight out of the league of gentlemen. The program could genuinely be a satire, can't believe anyone would come out and say that.
