Living at home with my mum. I've wanted to move out for a while but my slave labour wages made that impossible. I've recently been given a substantial pay rise so it is very much possible now. The problem is it's not easy finding a one bed house with a garden that's furnished and is walking distance from where I work. Oh and with a landlord that is okay with dog's. That's a deal breaker because I'm not going anywhere without my dog. Don't talk about your mum like that.

Living in Nottingham in uni halls atm, the place itself is shit but the people make it decent.. Recently put a deposit down for a hous next year, right next to forest, cheaper rent too which is nice Not anywhere near Meadows are you? Amount of stories told about that area put me off having Notts as one of my options, even if I would have steered well clear of it. Its one of the problems with the house we're getting next year in that its cheaper than we could have afforded but its slap bang in the centre of one of the worst areas for burglaries in Sheffield. Wanted a house that had a gap between window and pavement but they were on the other side of the what's affordable fence. luisgarciaisgod not that I have any idea about the percentages when letting, but couldn't you always do really short term contracts with no assurance about it being rolling if you wanted to try? Loss of privacy though, I don't envy that at all man. One of the hardest things to give up when you get used to it for me.

Live in a flat in a high rise apartment building across the road from the CN Tower. Live with my girlfriend and one other guy from Montreal. We're moving at the end of this month to a house about 10 minutes away and I can't wait. Much bigger bedroom and the girl we're moving in with seems way nicer.
Can't afford to just have our own place over here, at least not in the area we want to live. My gf is also insanely picky. Not a bad thing for accommodation I guess

Haha! It's a class city, though living where we are is a bit shite. Obviously great views of the city and Lake Ontario but all there is round here is high rise apartments. No decent pubs, no decent takeaways or anything. Where we're moving to is a bit out of the way but still only 10 minutes away and has one of my favourite breakfast places a 2 minute walk away!

Bit of a long story but essentially a lot of shit happened that made me go "fuck it" and gave up a salaried permanent position in Glasgow to coming out here with my gf. It's been tough and because I was a bit sudden with it I didn't have enough money saved but I've found work pretty easy to pay the bills etc. Not in a position to save and not able to afford flights home for Christmas either. Regretted it a few times but it's been a great experience and looking into extending my visa now

What's the council tax, and other bills like? I live in Ireland so don't pay council tax, there's a property tax coming in next year of €100 p/y but that's it. Other bills like Electricity are fine because it's only ever me and my girlfriend here.

I'm back at home with my parents and brother after a shite year living in Manchester. Rent for halls was crazy high for what we were getting, never had any money. Got work here now, mates are all nearby and it's only an hour on the train to uni, really content with the situation. Parents have said until I finish uni I always have a place at home rent free. After then I can either move out of pay rent (and they're asking for like, £80 per fortnight which is really cheap for the house we live in). We own the house so it's not like some paltry contribution to council rent.
Next year I'm going to Murcia for a year for uni. Gonna be a big test for me after finding Manchester so difficult. If in enjoy it, I'm gonna save up for staying there another year or two post-uni.

Bought a flat about 4 years ago now. Always had it in my mind I'd be here for about 5 years so going to start looking at houses next year. Can't decide if I want to live out in the sticks or not. Like the idea of having no neighbours and a bit of land but be a bitch for taxis whenever I'm getting pished. Most of my mates rent places, and they pay more in rent than I do in mortgage payments. If you are living at home I'd advise staying there and saving up a deposit to buy instead of rent. You never see that rent money again and have little control over when you want to move. One mate of mine has moved flat every year for 4 years because his landord has wanted to sell or other shite like that. That was originally my plan, but living at home and commuting 2 hours each way was making me miserable, and I realised it'd be hard for me to get a mortgage on a temporary work contract. Not sure if it'd be easier now I've been there 18 months and just got extended for another 12.

2nd year of uni
had 3 guy mates that I was gonna move in with this year but 2 dropped out before completing 1st year and the other got asked to move in with some of his hockey team mates which was fair enough
managed to get in a house of 5 with 2 others I was living with in 1st year and 2 of their mates, everything was all sound until 2 of them dropped out as well so I'm currently in a house with 1 person I lived with last year, 2 of the drop outs mates and a randomer we had to draft in
not the best but I can deal with it
probably look to go back on campus for final year if I can
