I've agreed to sell my house for €240,000, €10k over the original asking price. Little bit down heartened because there were two people bidding originally and it went up to €260k but they both pulled out.
I haven't found anywhere that I like yet so i've got a few weeks left here but after that I dunno what i'm gonna do. People keep telling me to make sure I buy something before i waste it away but don't wanna be pushed into buying somehwhere i don't like.

Yeah, be careful not to waste it too though. Mate of mine bought a flat in Letterkenny when he came back from Australia loaded, maybe look into something like that because at least you'll have an income if you rent it out.
Congrats though man, where is the house you're selling?
Just moved into a one bedroom apartment in downtown Toronto with the girlfriend. It's heaven not having a flatmate any more, we'll see how our relationship does though.

The obvious solution is to become a professional gambler.

The obvious solution is to become a professional gambler. It's honestly crossed my mind, my mate has just started and he's doing well for himself atm but i don't have his discipline. Would end in disaster. notpropagandaCheers, It's in Tallaght but it's a detached 3 bedroom so i've got a fair enough price for it. I'm thinking about buying a house then heading off to Australia (although that would mean i'd have to give up on trying to win my ex back).

Jebus, has the market changed all that much from the boom then?
As long as you invest it in property or something at least before you jet off anywhere, believe me moving to a new country the money disappears pretty sharpish. I'd look into somewhere like Letterkenny or Sligo though, one of the student-y towns you'll get a nice place for peanuts compared to Dublin and you can rent it out to 3rd/4th years to keep an income while you're doing whatever you decide to do.
Like I say not a place for yourself but literally with a view to rent it out.

Would end in disaster. Aye it's not a good idea especially with that amount, it would be so easy to start chucking it around and end up losing a shitload.

I moved to Wales at the start of the year for a new job, currently living with my fiancee in a 2 bed house. Saving up to buy a property, hopefully next year. Did achieve this, been mortgaged up to fuck since August.

I don't think I updated that I moved out of me mam's again and into a Buddhist centre that I've lived in before a couple of years ago. It's just like any shared accommodation really except that the people here are decent and trustworthy and put in some effort to look after the place generally. Things like the housekeeping, building work and gardening are done by volunteers. Been here since the summer now and it's working out well, very affordable.
