did anyone watch the Crazy Gang documentary that BT were forcing down everyones throats? Honestly can't think of a more dislikable person then John Fashanu. www.terrygibson.london/#!Crazy-Gang-Documentary/c1zqn/90957FC4-BAF2-4F60-8BCE-D4094277F586 terry gibson's response to it, seems like even his teammates think he's an utter berk

Fashanu made Gazza look perfectly sane in that documentary. Why was he wearing a Sweden tracksuit top?

Fashanu who disowned his brother when he came out, didn't care when he killed himself and said even a few years ago he wouldn't have done anything differently.

It is rare to find someone so universally disliked as John Fashanu is. Did a Twitter search of him when Beasant laid into him on Monday evening and there was literally nothing positive about him.

Started on a season with Verona @hellas. Read the first two chapters...is/ was Italy/Verona/Italian football as racist as being depicted? Has it changed over past 10-15 years since the book was written? Quite shocking some of the stuff mentioned so far.
Enjoying it so far though. Great reading about an 18 year old Alberto Gilardino and a young Adrian Mutu. (Even if the book isn't as much about the actual football)

Definitely changed. Italian culture has too Imo. I remember 8 year ago I went to see a Hellas match and was really surprises at the amount of racism but ever since I started going semi regularly to games (about two years ago) I haven't heard one racist remark or chant. Read up about when Balotelli came to the Bentegodi last season: every tabloid was going mad about how he was going to be racially abused all match...what happened? Every time he touched the crowd started to ironically cheer him and Hellas fans were somewhat 'praised' for defending themselves in a humorous manner rather than go ape shit at outdated allegations.

g7vikings Given it a quick Google as I'm intrigued, is that the one by Tim Parks? If not about the football what is it about? Might do a swift pruchase cause I'm smashing through my current read... not football related but people who like business/technology/smartphones (specifically Apple and Google) check out Battle of the Titans... it's one of my drunken airport purchases and I'm quite happy with myself

BlueMoon yeah by Tim parks. Well it's about him following Verona home and away during their 2000/2001 season, but so far (two chapters in) it's been heavy on Italian culture & football within it. Still talks about the matches like, but the games almost feel like a backstory.

I was supposed to post this a few weeks back when it originally came out but never got around to it. thelab.bleacherreport.com/the-church-of-cruyff/ A fascinating man. Probably leaves the greatest legacy in football. If you still haven't, I'd seriously recommend a brilliant orange by David Winner.

Recently just finished Andrew Jennings book on Fifa corruption, "the dirty game", I'd recommend it, breaks down eloquently the corruption, kickbacks, and basically, how much of a cunt everyone at Fifa is. In particular never mind Havelange/Blatter, Jack Warner/Chuck Blazer are two of the biggest chancers I've ever read about.
