Just me that really can't stand American stand-up? It's not so much the comedians but the audiences. They cheer and clap after nearly every punchline, it's so annoying.

Louis CK, Jim Jeffries and Stewart Lee are the three I always return to. CK's released about 4 amazing specials. Jeffries is just straight up funny and I know a lot of people aren't fans of Lee's shtick but I think the guy is amazing.

Aziz Ansari's Intimate Moments For A Sensual Evening is the funniest standup I've ever seen, the bit with Harris has had me so many times
I'm partial to Glover, Louis CK, Bo Burnham, Carr, Daniel Tosh (he's actually funny when he's not just talking over YouTube clips) & George Carlin

Think the first time i saw Aziz Ansari was on Scrubs. Loved his character for the short amount of time he was on the show. Deffo gonna catch some of his stand-up now.

Jimmy Carr is the only mainstream stand up who I like.
I'm ashamed to say I used to like Lee Evans once... then I turned 16

FUCKING KNEW I KNEW HIM FROM SOMEWHERE
And no shame in that, Lee Evans was very funny when I hadn't fully discovered both the internet and my lack of morals when it comes to humour.
That said I do find it odd when an 'adult' finds Lee Evans funny, his last two dvd's have been woeful in terms of joke quality, Wembley and Scotland were actually based around solid jokes with a hint of mannerisms/slapstick/performance based humour and it's the other way round lately.

I've always hated Lee Evans tbh.
Dylan Moran is a personal favourite, though his 3rd DVD was a bit disappointing. Monster and Like, Totally are brilliant though

The obvious ones like Hicks, Prior, Rock, Murphy, Izzard, Carlin, Louis CK, Gervais are all worth watching.
Then there's guys like Bill Burr, Jefferies, Minchin, Joe Rogan, Doug Stanhope, etc. who are all really worth watching. If you have a ps3/4 or an Xbox and have Netflix, youtube how to access American Netflix, it's worth it for the stand ups.

I do love Moran too - Steve Merchant, Ed Byrne, Stewart Francis & Brand jump to mind too
Bill Hicks is very hit and miss for me, his "it's just a ride" bit is amazing but the rest of that show is just snarky not-too-clever observations, like Carlin but with less of a point, at least that's the way I saw it
