Forgot to mention Adam Johnson. More of a worst player than a scapegoat. Watching that bloke play football knowing we paid £10 mil for him really does bring you close to tears. Wasn't he another one that was really highly rated a few years ago? Remember a long standing argument with my mate over him because I said and still stand by the fact that Downing is better than him.

Our current scapegoat, at least on the Owl boards, is Atdhe Nuhiu. He probably should never have been signed in the first place and doesn't fit our style of play at all but any time that he sees the pitch there is a twenty page thread about him with dozens of people bashing him and a small handful defending him. Takes a lot of stick for a striker who doesn't want to be a target man but is played there anyway. Just because we wanted Matt Smith and didn't get him doesn't mean that we should have signed some other 2 m striker. On the other end of the spectrum is Jeremy Helan. People absolutely adore him but I don't see what he offers other than that he can run quite fast...his defensive positioning is dire and if you deploy him in attack he has no end product. He just shuttles up and down the left quickly and with a lot of effort. Your message board is an abortion tbf

Yeh, was highly rated at Boro enough for Man City to buy him. Looked great for Man City, dunno weather than was just him being new to the league and teams not knowing about him or the MOTD effect, then we signed him and everyone was overjoyed. Year and a half later it's apparent that the bloke is just utterly wank. Some of our players I wonder how we're going to shift them when we go down. Dunno who the fuck would want Johnson, probably some Stoke type team will be duped into paying about £6 mil for him in the summer.

Think he's defo a highlights player, scores a wonder goal once in 10 games and does sod all in between, so looks good on MOTD and the like.

don't agree about Henderson, a lot of our fans have always believed hid worth to he team and that he'd come good. While Sahko and Cissokho are just shit and with Enrique injured I'd say it's Joe Allen, generally our fans jus regard him as a sideward passer who adds nothing to the team.

errr right now it'd be hard to pick one, people have finally seemed to accept Shola for what he is, and Tiote and Williamson have played their way back into the good books, and are both undoubted starters (for now at least). There's always the same groans of despair whenever we realise Obertan is about to appear though

Has to be Saborio for our scapegoat. Even though he's led our team in scoring for 3 years he never seems up for it, and whenever he's on the field we have a habit of focusing on getting him the ball and hoping he can do something magical with it.
Which he does quite often, but the man lives offsides and doesn't really fit in with our style of play too well at times. If he wasn't scoring so much for us I think most of our fans would want him out rather quickly. Not a bad player though, but when our offense hits a brick wall it's because he's up top by himself, and not putting himself into the game. Which he can, as I saw in his first season with us.
Weird that one of our best players is our scapegoat though. Guess they're expecting too much from him.
Our worst player is Mansally. Winger made fullback, and way too aggressive... for me at least. Only 24 though, and it's going to be a long time for him to ever actually be first choice so I'm alright with that. Adds something that the other fullbacks don't have in pace at least.

Saborio is clearly a cut above most MLS players so him trying to do too much isn't exactly the worst thing...I suppose familiarity just breeds contempt.

Lewis Stevenson, who I love, is admittedly out of his depth. He gets so much unfair stick of our fans though, tries for every ball (that won us the penalty that won us the game tonight, tbh) and is far better than some of our fans make him out to be.
Worst player on form at the minute, even with his goal tonight is James Collins, cost more than Griffiths would have cost us not long ago and gives us much less.

Worst player is probably Jenkinson, current scapegoat is Giroud.
