We've had quite a few in my time like Doherty, Tony Gardner, Jenas and Kaboul first time round but theres no real scapegoat at the moment. That said Lennon gets load of gip when there are so many more deserving players who don't get a bad word said at all
Also I'd like to think we don't have a bad footballer at the club. Naughton again gets a load of gip mostly harsh because he's not a sexy name, same as Huddlestone was getting stick last season and look at him now, some Spurs fans are just complete cuntholes and the ones who do it inside the ground are fucking pricks, spoilt little cunts who can't hack losing and to try and look die hard will spend all game shouting at a certain player for no real reason (favourites here include Defoe, Naughton, Walker and Townsend)
These cunts put me off football but also I must thank them for helping me realise how insignificany football is to real everyday life.

Scapegoat wise...
Ashley Young for horrendous crossing comes in 1st Tom Cleverley for being limited and having a fear of passing forwards comes in 2nd

Aaron Lennon must be one of the most under-rated footballers in the league right now. Not saying he's a world beater but he is pretty decent at beating his man, sticks in an average ball and seems to track bit well enough.

Lennon is...fine.
Perfectly acceptable better-than-average Premier League player, does a job for us but nothing really more. He constantly looks a lot more threatening than he actually is, plus he doesn't seem to have added anything to his repertoire in the past five or so years which is why it gets problematic when people say he's vastly underrated or one of the best wingers around, since he's not. That said, we've always looked a lot more fierce with him than not and he was a big part of the best Spurs team in the past twenty years, so maybe I'm just underrating him since he was the least stylish part of that attack. Plus he has Evra chasing shadows everytime we play United which is nice.

Yeah if Lennon played against Evra every week, he'd be the best winger in the world. I think Spurs are much better with him in the team because he offers so much width and is more useful than Townsend's inverse winger business. If you have a good cut-in winger or someone like Eriksen as in a playmaker who starts on the wing, he's a nice alternative.

Weird that one of our best players is our scapegoat though. Guess they're expecting too much from him. Always cringe when I see that sort of thing from a club's supporters. Saborio is clearly a cut above most MLS players so him trying to do too much isn't exactly the worst thing...I suppose familiarity just breeds contempt. It makes no sense honestly. He got 12 goals, and 2 assists in a season where he was injured and constantly called up for by Costa Rica. Mad how much he's scored for us, and people constantly rag on him. I suppose it has to be somebody though. Alvarez was also the teams scapegoat, but I think that was because of his send offs for us. Not a bad player either, and I would put him getting sent off to not being used to playing regular football. When he got a decent string of games for us he looked comfortable. Unfortunately for him Beckerman normally came right back, and he was back on the bench.

If you have a good cut-in winger or someone like Eriksen as in a playmaker who starts on the wing, he's a nice alternative. Townsend is a left winger, there's no denying this. Maybe one day he can adapt but right now he's vital on that side, think it was against Sunderland he came on on the left for 20 and set up three chances Since Sherwood's 4-4-2 is actually more of a 4-2-3-1 with Ade behind Soldado (they should both play together for the time being, they've both been superb these past few weeks) then Eriksen on the left & Lennon on the right makes sense but I really really want Lamela to start, we've got a massively talented player here and honestly the excuses as to why he's not starting have been pitiful (other than injury ofc). It's like we expected a 21 year old to adapt to an entirely new team, new culture, new language & new coach (two now) instantly. I really hope we don't squander him

I hope Rodgers does improve him. He has to. But there's an awful lot of work to be done on his all round game and I'm not too sure how well you can turn a reactive footballer into a pro-active one; at least not without making plenty of mistakes along the way. I don't watch a lot of Liverpool so correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Rodgers done something similar to what you're describing with Skrtel? Never thought of him as a comfortable centre back on the ball and there were some mistakes last year iirc with playing the ball in the backline but it seems to be going well this season. Again I don't watch an awful lot of Liverpool matches so I may be wrong. Also from what you're describing sounds like Lloris is your guy

notpropaganda Skrtel has improved on the ball but other than that he's still the same player. Loves a wrestle, leaves you wondering what he's doing and still not great on the ball. He's more comfortable in receiving it and laying it off to the nearest red shirt though. And along the way he did make plenty of mistakes. And still does. I just think there's a whole lot to mignolet's game to change and find it strange we signed a keeper of his style given how we want to play. I tagged you as propaganda at first ha

g7vikings fair enough it's a bit of a strange signing in that case but I think Rodgers is more than capable of converting him. The type of keeper described is a bit of a rare breed in all honesty. Mignolet was on the market for relatively cheap and is a very solid keeper (couple of weak attempts at saves v City and Chelsea aside). I'm not sure who else you could've gone for other than, like I said, Lloris.

Instead of converting Mignolet he could have tried to remind Reina he was a goalkeeper. Reina of 3/4 years ago would be perfect. Lloris is the pinnacle. The best at the minute in that style, but there are others around who are similar or show potential or are at least comfortable in a few of the attributes Mignolet is lacking in. I'm not knocking Mignolet, he's a good goalkeeper and he will improve other aspects of his game, I like him, he's reliable, I would have just bought differently. Or kept Reina. But probably bought differently given everything surrounding Reina such as form and Barca.
