You can't compare there performances in international competitions either really.
Brazilian Ronaldo had players like Cafu, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos etc.
Christiano Ronaldo has Helder Postiga.

people who associate Messi with talent and CRon with "hard work" or whatever are complete idiots What's that got to do with this?

I saw it brought up that Messi and Ronaldo have "natural talent" but everyone always seems to forget that CRon has it in abundance too
it annoys the hell out of me
fwiw CRon > Ronaldo
I'll always respect Ronaldo for being one of the best strikers ever but Messi and CRon (maybe even Ronaldinho) are incomparable to anyone that's proceeded them

Christiano. Here's my reason why: Luis was great, you can't deny that. He had technical ability, and backs it up with his trophies. The one key thing you'd look at though is football now and then are completely different animals. The game has become so much more high paced, athletic and technical. Christiano has been consistently dominant as the overall level of his competition has gone up and up. Not to say that Luis was playing a bunch of fuckwits with no talent. For example though, look at the mid to lower league teams now and then. You can't deny that the overall quality has shot up, which for me is where the crux of the comparison comes down. Technically they are both brilliant, in terms of career success they both have achieved a fantastic amount. The big difference for me though, is that Christiano has done it in a much more competitive era of football. The overall standard of defending worldwide during Ronaldos era was much higher than it is now in Cristianos As big a supporter of Ronaldo I have been I think Cristiano beats him for natural ability, he beats everyone for footballing ability and 99% of the world physically.

Cristiano is considered one of the four best footballers of all time and rightly so. Ronaldo doesn't really come close to that tbh. Also at his peak Ronaldo managed 30 goals in a season. Cristiano double that last season. Ronaldo scored 34 in the league for Barcelona and 47 in 49 in all competitions in his prime. Very comparable to what Cristiano does now.

It's a fucking horrorshow just how underappreciated the Brazilian Ronaldo is seen in modern times, mainly by people who probably seen driblets of him when he was injured or had piled on weight. He was fucking majestic in the late nineties.
i'd probably plump for Cristiano but it's a tight call.

What happened to the times you'd judge/compare playerd based on your own bleedin thoughts aswell instead of using numbers found on wikipedia

I've said it a few times now, Mike will check to see how many times I have exactly and use that to judge whether I'm a monotonous cunt

I was going to mention this to Mike, it's how he seems to determine whether or not a player has had a good season rather than actually watching them. So in this one instance I referred to a number of goals a player scored in a season and you've come to the conclusion that I judge every player based on their overall goal tally, that I've been using wikipedia and I've never watched Ronaldo. Utter garbage. I never said you haven't watched him but that's how you judge players, I'm not sure if you have the brain to watch a player and decide if he's good or not in your own opinion. You decided Gerrard had a poor season and Rooney had a great one based on stats, you do it all the time.

Because of injuries, Cristiano has the edge. He's been able to perform at the highest standard year after year and continue to develop without spending months or years at a time on the sidelines.
Had brazillian Ronaldo not had such severe injury problems I think he would have gone on to become the greatest player ever. At the age of 20 he was already such a complete player, seemingly unplayable at times. In that season (his first in a top league) he scored 47 in 49 for Barca, then moved to Italy the next year and scored 34 in 47 for Inter. At such a young age I find switching between top leagues like that and effortlessly continuing a fantastic goalscoring record to be ridiculous tbh.
His injures meant he missed what would have need his peak years, between ages of 22-25 I think he barely played. Yet when he came back he was still winning golden boots at world cups and scoring 30 a season for Madrid. We've seen how injuries can take away so much from a player, being out for the best part of 3 years and stil playing at the level he did is astonishing.
As I say, both phenomenal players but without the injuries holding him back Ronaldo would have become unstoppable imo.

No you definitely said something about Gerrard's season not being that great because most of his goals have been penalties.
