He scored 9 in the league. But regardless, Torres once scored 20+ for us. In Welbecks last 37 league games he's scored just 5 goals (failing to find the net on 34 occasions), while his side won a championship too. That's not good enough for a striker, a winger, a number 10 or any other player contributing to the attack.

Goalscoring record has to be improved on and I wouldn't say that he hasn't deserved criticism, he has had some crap games but that's all part of the learning curve.
But I still see a lot of potential there, his link-up play can be class at times. Much moreso than Cleverley who hasn't progressed in the past two years.

Could argue last season he should have got more from the wing as he only got 1 in the league, but so did Valencia and Nani & Young both scored 0. Our wingers just weren't chipping in and Welbeck's main attribute of playing the wing was his defensive work with Evra.
When he plays up front he looks like he can be good. Will never be world class but I think 9 league goals for someone who was playing their first full season as a youngster isn't too bad.

It was tongue in cheek. I like Welbeck and I know you're a big fan too but his goalscoring record for a side like Utd is abysmal. 2 last year and scored in 2 matches this year. He really needs to improve that side of his game before a lot of people let up. I've argued about last year before but bringing up 2 matches this year is a bit silly, he can hardly be expected to score if he's injured/out of the team can he? 5 goals in 8 starts (CL + League) combined with his constant stream of England goals is pretty good in fairness.

A one in 7 goal record is the kind of thing the likes of Heskey and Bendtner have become laughing stocks for. When he's up front he doesn't impress, and braces in games against poor sides don't either. I think United have better options than him. Not saying get rid or anything, he still offers something. What that something is I'm not quite sure of. I reckon he is going to become a good player, he's aready halfway there. But he won't be a stand out player at United because for as long as he's been there, there have always been two or three much better players in his position.

Aye, that whole heskey bantzzz fries me to no end. Is he not doing well in the Australian league?
Find it shocking the difference in how highly people rated Torres at Liverpool to how he is treated as a laughing stock at Chelsea.

I quite like Bendtner tbh. Would love to have him at Hellas when Toni retires.

I'd have him back any day. He'd be 10x the strike partner for Fletch or Altidore than they are for each other.
One of the only times Wickham has looked good was with NB next to him.
