Banshees of Inisherin was really good but I think I'm slightly lower than most on it? Still an easy 8/10 though. Black Panther Wakanda Forever was surprisingly good as well, a lot of grief and a slow paced film 7/10. Triangle of Sadness is also very good but just goes on for too long, the film is in 3 parts and you could easily just get rid of part 1, part 2 is the strongest by far 8/10.

Suppose is very Brit of me to not realise The Banshees of Insherin was set 100 years ago until Padraic is marking off his calendar

Seem to be in the minority but definitely preferred the first Knives Out to Glass Onion.

watched All Quiet on the Western Front a few weeks ago and now my housemate has The King's Man on, and while I know the latter isn't exactly meant to be a realistic depiction of WWI, fucking hell the difference in tone is mental and its making the whole film feel utterly absurd
Maybe I'm being unfair in judging a big budget action film against the standards set by the best (and bleakest) film I've seen in a long time but here we are

Cocaine Bear was my first cinema trip on god knows how many years.
I don't know what I've just watched.
I don't know if it was good or not.
I just don't think I'll sleep tonight.

Nice to see what was clearly the best film of the year absolutely dominating the Oscars.

I had fun but it is definitely not a good film I was thinking in the sense of it being a good bad film - think sharknado etc... I wasn't even sure if it met that benchmark.

Across the Spider-Verse is Marvel’s magnum opus and they don’t really have anything to do with it creatively. Credit where it’s due for Sony, this is shaping up to be the best trilogy made in the past 20 years. Considering the fan movement against Sony after Garfield’s 2nd movie, it’s quite a turnaround I adored the first one and really wasn’t sure how they’d improve on it but they managed it, or at least made it to par. Think it was miles better as a multiverse movie than any other Marvel stuff recently, and up there with Everything Everywhere All At Once in terms of executing the concept so well Absolutely loved it and wanna go see it again asap

Think it was miles better as a multiverse movie than any other Marvel stuff recently, and up there with Everything Everywhere All At Once in terms of executing the concept so well Absolutely loved it and wanna go see it again asap I’m in the same boat, I can’t wait to see it again already. I think Marvel in particular got bogged down in these massive set pieces so much that they forgot that superhero films are supposed to be fun. They’re meant to be goofy with a bit of slapstick, they’re supposed to be meta and not take themselves too serious. I’ve loved some Marvel films during the MCU era honestly but most of them I don’t care about watching again. But I was having such a good time watching that film last night, how they’ve managed to turn a throwaway moment from the first film into a major plot point in the sequel, the insanity that an animated movie can bring Peter Parkedcar and the Spider-Rex were two of the best. The Spider-Man pointing meme being used again to great effect here as well. The Miguel O’Hara variant is so good as well, the most serious plot point in the film is the inherent nature of superheroes trying to maintain order and good people getting hurt in the process. Oh and the fucking Glover cameo from a version of Prowler that the MCU has just not decided to actually utilise Im trying to get my girlfriend to watch the first one but she just won’t budge because it’s animated, which I can understand but it’s such a missed opportunity for anyone who doesn’t bother with it for that alone
