ChappyHova He said that his camp has been working on his punching technique and making his punches straighter. Could account for the noticeable increase in snap in his jabs. He referenced the change in punching technique when he spoke of this "new style" that his corner has got him fighting in. I'd think overall it means that he can still stick and move but when he goes for the power shots he's gonna make sure people feel them. Pretty much what you described as a potential gameplan vs Joshua - Utlisise his footwork and ring savy, snap away with the jab and wear him down over 6 or 7 rounds, then start bringing in the physicality and heavier shots.

If yous have a spare fiver sign up to the Second Captains World Service and listen to their Friday pod, they had Andy Lee on and he basically told them everything they’d been working on in camp lol

Pod I listen to (Second Captains) got Andy Lee on to talk through his draw vs Quillin back in 2015. Love listening to him talk about boxing, seems such a great fella and really easy to listen to.

I can't quite get my head around it, he couldn't stop Hughie Fury and it took Joshua several rounds to stop Whyte and even then it wasn't a KO. Was it literally just the perfect punch in the perfect place?
It is a stunning uppercut and there's few things you could expect Whyte to do there, I guess that's just heavyweight boxing.

Povetkin has always hit ridiculously hard, Hughie Fury is difficult to hit and has quick feet, Whyte has slow feet so wasn’t that difficult for Povetkin to close the gap.
Whytes chin is still a bit of an unknown to me, I think he has tons of heart and recovers well generally but I’ve seen him wobbled a lot. Chisora wobbled him numerous times and Chisora doesn’t hit that hard for a heavyweight.
I thought it was a possibility before the fight, the only thing that did shock me was that Povetkin looked done to me in the 4th. Thought he was poor and slow for 4 rounds, he was closing the gap well and landing body shots but didn’t look like he was ever going to land anything meaningful up top.

Curious if any of the boxing lads here watched that Panorama doc on Kinahan there last week, any reactions to it? Nothing new in it from an Irish POV but not sure if it was well known outside of here

Yeah I caught it - thought it was a really good documentary to bring some mainstream attention to it, and it did gather some traction online. Nothing in there was new to those who've dug into the background of MTK.
The most disappointing thing was how many people immediately jumped to his defence. I get that boxers will jump in to defend him, and I understand why people jumped in on McGuigan given the drama's he's had with his promotional career, but there was a depressing number of people writing off the entire documentary as being without merit.
On Kinahan, I think it's interesting that the FBI are involved and that may be the next interesting development - and the fact that Frampton actually admitted that he pays zero management fee's to MTK will be the first piece in the puzzle that brings them down as a promotional stable because it will have other promoters and promotions digging around.

I have to say the defenders have shocked me a little bit, Billy Joe Saunders' not so subtle dig at McGuigan losing his daughter was pure scum. I'm not exactly a fan of McGuigan tbh but he was good on the documentary I thought
The Kinahan-Hutch stuff tore Dublin apart like I just don't understand absolute wallopers tearing in to Irish journalists on twitter saying things like "you're obsessed mate lol". What sort of "sports promotion company" refuse to engage with the media of an entire nation like
And I find it really tiring when people say "boxing has always been dirty" like that excuses it. Just because something has always been one way doesn't mean you don't try and make it better.
I am disappointed in prominent boxers not taking a stand on this stuff but at the same time I understand it's tough for some of them, god only knows the pressures on them when you've someone as sinister as Kinahan about. But it's his cheerleaders that really sicken me tbh

I mean that's BJS all over though really. And yeah as much as people may dislike Mcguigan for his promotional career, it takes big bollocks to come out publically against Kinahan.
The IFL stuff and her trying to refute and defend the whole situation was laughable though, I remember it happening at the time and thinking it was ridiculous that they were facilitating it but figured it showed how deep even a YouTube channel had got with MTK.
I wonder if many of the people who say "boxing has always been dirty" are relying on tunnel vision and solely thinking about the boxing aspect of it - showing a wilful ignorance to how the money is made and where it's coming from. It's no surprise that Frank Warren was open to defending him given that blokes moral compass, likewise with Arum, and I think of the three Hearn was the only one who actually went as far as to suggest he wasn't happy with it but until there's regulation he's stuck with the system he's got.
One thing I always find strange is how it's always Dubai they run off to - like I saw a story of a woman who was jailed and prevented from returning home because she sent an expletive in a Whatsapp chat and yet suspected criminals can live freely in one of the most restrictive and secular states on Earth.
