In other news, big fan of the Mexico podium facing into the stadium rather than the pits...

I do like funny carefree Seb.
Mexico track looks alright so far, not sure how it's gonna be for actual racing though. Grip looks non-existent, fancy there's gonna be a big crash at some point.
Meanwhile Button has a 70 place grid penalty and is starting the race from Brazil.

Love Vettel, he's funny as fuck, people always go on about him being a moaner or having bad sportsmanship but for me that's like when people go on about Andy Murray having no personality. Doesn't match up at all to reality. Yeah, he's done some moaning - usually during or immediately after high octane races where he's been throwing himself round a track 180mph for 2 hours - but as far as folk at the top of their sport go, he seems like one of the most personable, fun & down-to-earth guys (he can quote me on his tinder account if he wants)

He was a moaning bratty cunt whilst at Red Bull though, it was only when he was away from F1 (Top Gear, Autosport awards) that his character showed. He's now showing that character within F1 too, idk if he's more relaxed at Ferrari, if becoming a Dad has mellowed him or if he doesn't feel the pressure given what he's achieved.

Yesterday was just another advert for everything wrong with F1. Tyres pre-selected by manufacturer: joke. Team orders costing drivers a win: joke, in football they call that match fixing ffs. Safety Car for off track incident when waving yellow flags will do: joke.
I think F1 has to be the one saving grace for football in that it truly is just a business.

Red Bull are in trouble, deadline for a new engine was end of October, they've pushed it back two weeks. There's a few interesting reads around online about how they've been screwed over by both Mercedes and Ferrari, but to summarise;
Horner agreed with Mercedes that they would take a 2015 engine. Part of the deal was that before going public and signing off, he had to publically end association with Renault. Horner did that. In that period someone at Mercedes got cold feet (allegedly Hamilton/Wolff) and leaned on Mercedes to pull out of the deal. They did, and also used up their allocation of customer engines by agreeing to give Manor engines, knowing that'd reflect well on them publically whilst also giving them a public get out clause if questions were asked of them about not supplying Red Bull.
Horner then turned to Ferrari, who outright refused to give them anything other than the 2015 engine. This was deemed unacceptable for the main team but was signed off for Toro Rosso.
Since then, he's been putting out feeders suggesting that they may end up with Renault for next season at the very least. However, to save the PR damage it would do both brands, they'd simply receieve an 'unbranded' engine that everybody would know is a Renault engine but for marketing purposes would be blank. They've approached Honda, and Honda were keen, but McLaren said no to it for fear of being further embarassed and Matterschitz has publically said a Honda engine would be "worse than this Renault one".
He's said multiple times they'll walk away from F1 if they don't get a competitive engine. He's given interviews this week stating that it's an impossibility that they'll get one. So, they're either going to be sold on (unlikely), bought out by Horner ala Brawn (even more unlikely), take a year out (possible) or run the unbranded engines and Matterschitz cuts the funding massively.

I've really never got my head around them not taking a Ferrari 2015 engine. Surely the 2015 Ferrari will be better than the 2016 Honda and maybe even the 2016 Renault. I reckon Red Bull would be more competitive next season with the 2015 Ferrari than they've been this season, and they've not even been that bad in recent races.

Not sure what the deal is next year about in-season development but if it's allowed then I can see why they don't want to be lumbered with a 2015 engine.

F1 is on its arse, regardless of who's winning imo. Needs a few years of good press instead of all the bad press, mostly brought about by Bernie Ecclestone. Declining attendances, declining viewing figures, lack of manufacturers wanting to take part, leaving loyal bases to chase desert money, stupid rule changes, teams and quality of drivers dying off; I'm pretty sure it will all continue to slide over the next few years. I'd agree with Pestar, last 5 seasons have been fucking shite. Here's the telling indicator for me about how F1 has changed and why I struggle to put guys like Vettel and Hamilton up against F1 greats of the past like Prost, Senna, Schumacher and even as recent as Alonso - the car as an automatic machine has never felt more stronger to me, when I watch old races you can clearly see the quality of the driver have an influence on seconds on the circuit and ultimately places on the grid, I suppose you still see it now when you see how much better Hamilton is than Rosberg or Vettel is than Webber but it's still just one guy going away with no challenge. Most F1 for the last 5 years genuinely feels like watching cars do a procession lap for 90 minutes with the occasional overtake or racing incident. That would bring me on to another major fault in that there is no spontaneity anymore in the coverage, it's all too professional, clean cut and boring. Give me the days of Murray Walker going wild and random graphics popping up all over the screen. The coverage, like the races, to me, both just feel sanitized and boring. BBC sack off F1 3 years early as a cost-cutting measure and give the contract over to channel 4. As I said back in October, F1 has been shit for a while now so I'm not surprised by the move, if I was looking for cost-cutting that's the place I'd start too, especially with Olympics & Euros next summer, all my sport budget would be going on that. Hopefully C4 being more maverick/shit leads to abit of that spontaneity in coverage I was on about that F1 is lacking.

Government forces BBC to cut their funding, BBC is forced to relinquish big sports contracts, government then uses this to show BBC isn't value for money.
