Obviously it's only testing so times aren't fully relevant, but the Ferrari looks seriously quick compared to everything bar the Mercedes, who I think are holding back somewhat.
McLaren looks awfully off the pace and the Renault engine is holding Red Bull back.
Think we're likely to see Mercedes' closest rivals being Williams and Ferrari.

Farcical that after the big 5 teams, the FIA and Bernie all agree on letting Marussia keep going that Force India of all fucking people keep them out. Force India were my go to underdog team, not anymore the pricks.

Odd one that, think it's something to do with finances; Force India even if they finish 10th will get a greater share of money if there's only 10 teams than they would if they finish 10th with 11 teams. Or something like that. Given they've only just managed to pay suppliers for their 2015 parts and won't be testing that model before Melbourne they've taken several steps backwards.
Marussia would have been horrible backmarkers anyway, the 2014 model cars are a second and a half a lap slower already.

Yeah Marussia would've been dreadful but they at least would've had a team to sell so we'd keep another team in F1 but now there's going to be nothing left.

Alonso is in hospital after crashing into a wall during testing, hope it's just precautionary.

This Alonso business is unsettling, still in hospital.
In better news, Will Stevens named as Manor's first driver and they'll be in Australia in a couple of weeks. Good to see another British driver.

Released now but odd that he's been in for three days. Rumours that he was electrocuted were refuted by McLaren, but something's not as it seems.

Ron Dennis confirms the Italian reports that Alonso was suffering from amnesia after the incident, he was unconscious momentarily after the incident and the couldn't remember the accident as well as parts of his life (which seems a bit more severe than they're letting on).

The McLaren got 100 laps in today, half of their entire winter testing programme so far. Still miles off the pace but apparently not running at 100%. The Mercedes it's reckoned is 0.7-0.8 seconds a lap faster than the Williams/Red Bull in race mode, possibly even quicker in qualifying. Cars are almost nearly 2 seconds a lap quicker than they were this time last year at the Barcelona GP which shows the improvement curve. Force India had it's first outing, looks impressive and has a weird S duct thing (Thought they were banned?), looks like a bonnet scoop from Halfords some boy racer would have on his Corsa. Also I'll be after setting up an F1 Fantasy if I can find a decent one, the one I used last year got closed down because it wasn't 'official'.

Really odd testing. Clearly Merc are quick but hard to say who'll be closest to them in Melbourne. Looks like Williams but would be great to see Ferrari competitive and hope the improvement from both Lotus and Sauber is genuine. Manor will clearly be the slowest and probably Force India struggling for a while.

So apparently Marussia and Caterham going into administration meant suppliers began to be a bit stricter with their invoices and as a result there's rumours that Force India are in trouble (not too surprising given they've only managed to get a car together for testing since Friday) but more worryingly, Sauber and Lotus are also said to be in finacial trouble and all three's participation in Melbourne is far from certain as a result. Also explains why Force India didn't want Marussia back in, would mean they get less money from the rights holders and clearly they're struggling already.
It's mental how in a 'sport' with so much money involved there are so many teams in dire difficulty. Wonder who'll blink first to resolve it.
Also, testing over and the Mercedes' set the fastest times on the soft tyres, every other car was slower on the super softs which are said to be a second a lap quicker so essentially the Mercedes is just as far ahead as last season if not further.
