Yeah being honest, I suppose I've been lucky as this is maybe the 2nd job in finance where I've really run in to a brick wall like this in terms of salary and valuing employees/growing in the role. The other place was Queens Uni in Belfast but that was definitely just down to their internal processes and sort of inter-department politics, sort of like a civil service role (I imagine) where a job would be advertised for say a Grade 5, but nobody lower than a Grade 5 could apply for it (even if you had the experience etc).
But it is just nuts to me that so many places take existing employees for granted. Feels like a really old fashioned, redundant way of managing a business

2 offers that have pretty much bowled me over with how much of an increase in salary I'm getting. I'm interviewing for one more today and have told them about the offers so it's all a bit time sensitive. Feeling sorta overwhelmed being honest (in a good way, I guess?)

Trying to move up into big boy work but I'm really struggling with competency based interview questions and the like, anyone got any tips or good things to read etc?

Trying to move up into big boy work but I'm really struggling with competency based interview questions and the like, anyone got any tips or good things to read etc? STAR is genuinely your best friend but I'm sure you've seen that a million times. Other thing is buzz words - if you know the competencies they're looking for, try and find out what effective behaviours for them are. You can then drop all the fancy phrases and buzzwords they're looking for and it generally can lift you a few marks. One of the main things I've found people slip up on is talking too much about what they did without saying why they did it. If you can explain why you took a certain action and reflect on it, you'll stand out. Or conversely, giving an example where it's a great piece of work but it's not actually clear what their role within it was.

Well in the immediate aftermath of my relationship going to shit I distracted myself by applying for jobs
Actually got approached for one based on my CV by a property investment firm earning double what I get now (based on commission). Had a phone interview yesterday and then was invited to a face to face next week. I have an interview for a recruitment agency on Monday as well
So that’s been a massive improvement

Anybody been unfortunate enough to have to use Salesforce in their daily role?

It might be the worst piece of software I've ever had to use.

In my previous role I used it every single day for behavioural plans, observations, updates etc and I fucking hated it. New role doesn't need it at all thankfully but the organisation is launching their own software this year to replace it because every department has problems with how limited/generally poor it is.

I hate it so much. Immediate challenge is the sheer aesthetic of it, but it's also so fucking clunky and having been told we'd be getting an all singing all dancing beast, it's now a case of CANT DO THAT, IT DOESNT DO THIS, WE CANT MAKE IT DO THIS
