Now I don't watch an awful lot of Arsenal but when I have seen them I've always thought that if they had a quick, nimble striker up top it would help them a lot more scoring goals. Obviously in hindsight that would work well too, given Giroud would offer a different game plan from the bench as a target to aim for whether that be feet/head/chester whatever.
Maybe someone like Hernandez, that fox in the box (excuse the cliché) type of striker. Maybe David Villa on a years deal or two? Could maybe be tempted if he's offered a central striking role?
As for the already stated right back and centre midfield roles, what about van der Wiel if Alves is gonna PSG? Arbeloa? Khedira would be a good midfield option too.

Song, Dzeko and Seamus Coleman would be ideal signings for Arsenal I reckon. They'd cost a fortune between them though (around £40-50M?) never going to happen. Why Song? He isn't a holding midfielder, he's a holding midfielder who doesn't hold.

Remy to them is one of the most obvious signings I've ever seen. Would be a good signing but probably still more in the category of a very good player rather than a top class player, he'll help but I can't see him being a massive difference. I'd love for them to sign Ivan Rakitic, he's not really needed but he'd suit them so much, really underrated player. Luiz Gustavo was the one they should have bought last summer really. Tiote could do that job in front of defence for them as well imo, holds his position and had the 5th most passes in the league this season, he can play it about a bit as well, and looks great next to more creative players, but they probably want someone with a calmer temperament for their side.

If I was Wenger I'd be going straight in for Hernandez. He'd get 30 a season at Arsenal playing every game.

Gk the dream - Casillas - would come in with vital experience. His leadership qualities would be a great addition to our squad. He could also help with Szczesny, teaching him not to let his head drop when it's not going our way.
More likely - Valdes - the (often overlooked) Spanish international is accustomed to winning. He brings invaluable experience to our squad. He'd most likely be wanting a guaranteed first team spot, I question whether he's any better than our current no.1
The reality - Schwarzer - we wanted him when he was better and Wojcech was much worse. No doubt we'll end up with him or someone similar
Right Back The dream - Coleman - brilliant season, quality player and would fit right into Sagnas boots.
The reality - Jenkinson get made first choice and we buy someone I've never heard of before.
Left Back The dream - that Portuguese bloke from Madrid, no the other one, no no no not him either, the bloody left back.
The reality - Wenger decides he is happy with two players that are fit for half a season each and nobody is signed.
The Nightmare - the prodigal son returns - Don't be scared it's not real
Defensive midfielder The dream - Bender/Martinez - the kind of dream that require fresh sheets in the morning.
The reality - Wenger buys an attacking midfielder instead
The nightmare - Gareth "I don't care how good he's been this season" Barry.
Wingers The Dream - Hazard/Draxler - it's just not gonna happen is it
The reality - nobody else wants to pay Podolskis huge wage so Wenger perseveres.
Striker The Dream - Cavani - automatically becomes the best Uruguayan in the league when Real buy Suarez.
The reality - Remy - I'm actually all for this as he'd offer us something different. And we really do lack a plan b.
The nightmare - Bendtner - He gets offered a contact extension and all none arsenal fans remind us of the time he said he was better than messi.

Hernandez is a poor footballer, just a goalscorer who brings little else to the side, wouldn't suit Arsenal at all imo.

Don't think resigning Song would be a big step in the right direction, however Wenger has generally been great at signing that perfect holding midfielder Arsenal need, but they certainly don't have that now.
Mascherano would be great for Arsenal.

Barry would be class for Arsenal alongside Wilshere in midfield. With that said, I'd prefer him to stick here with McCarthy

Why would they need Barry when they've got Arteta

They don't, it was more in reply to the guy who said Barry would be a nightmare for Arsenal.

They don't, it was more in reply to the guy who said Barry would be a nightmare for Arsenal. He would definitely not be "a great signing". Well he'd be on a free and coming in on the back of a great season, which is why I'd mention him as a possibility. However he's old, would demand high(ish) wages and is a step down from both Arteta and Flamini. Tbhafyer the season he's had, he should stay at Everton.
