Not this year, he's actually so much stronger than when he featured last year.

"Lightweight" is such a bullshit English fallacy Luka Modric was lightweight, Christian Eriksen is lightweight Tom Carroll isn't even near their physique though. He's so small.

If Spurs build their team around Kane, Carroll and Bentaleb they'll be in a relegation scrap, never mind pushing for the top six. "We're not getting in the top four next season, or the season after that, not a fucking hope, so let the kids have a go. I'm not saying "play 11 19-year-olds". I'm saying build the team with Kane and Bentaleb and Carroll etc. etc. with the better of what we've wasted our money on."
I dont see that many big words there, but yeah, reading is tough.
The idea is that, as I said, we wont be getting in the top four so why not give the young players, that we didnt spend money on, have a go "with the better of what we've wasted our money on". It's kind of a harsh statement as Eriksen wasnt a waste at all. Nobody else we bought last summer was that useful.
One other thing about Kane and this relegation scrap we'd be in. Considering how woeful that £26m Spaniard we bought was, how many games he played in, on his own, and that we won regardless. I dont think Harry Kane could possibly look that bad with any set up of midfielders behind him. Sure, he might be a bit of a Peter Crouch, but I'd like to see a young player from our academy (and I mean our academy, not somebody we bought) get a chance. Greg Dyke would love it.
Anyway. Liverpool? A centre half would be my guess.

I don't think building anything long term is a concept that Mike would understand, being a Chelsea fan and all

Vertonghen comes to mind. Could perform well at either CB or LB, can't imagine him being that expensive. A) he's a crap left back and b) would be very expensive and c) we'd almost certainly not sell him to a team we're trying to catch up with

I actually think Rodgers has got a tough job on his hands. Defense is the obvious area that needs strengthening but not at the expense of their attacking play.
Sagna and Cashley would improve their fullbacks. Wages could be an issue but I'd imagine Sagna would be asking for similar to what Johnson is already on. Cashley would probably be worth the big wages.
If they sell Lucas (a player I alway bought on FM before his move to merseyside) I replace him with Lucas Romero (a player I alway buy on FM)
I'm racking my brain as to who they should get at CB and all I can think of is Balanta, I really need to take a few days off of FM.

Wouldn't mind Mo Diame as backup, got a boss engine on him, he'd go well alongside or to back up Hendo. I also wouldn't mind Isco or Rakitic. I really am not that convinced with £20m plus for Lallana. I don't care about proven in the league etc, top class players excel everywhere. Defensively we need better full backs. The current options are backup quality for a team aiming for titles and Europe success. Especially left back, I'd love a good one of them. Take Diame please.

Liverpool need to sign at least 1 centre back, 1 left back, 1 centre mid, and 2 forwards of some description. You could make a convincing argument that we need to replace each of our back 5. I don't like Mignolet, I doubt I ever will as I can't see him transforming his game as far as I think is required. I'd welcome Reina back with open arms but it's not going to happen. Johnson is lucky he's the least of our worries in defence, hopefully he isn't offered a new deal off the back of an indifferent season. I'm not a fan of Skrtel and I prefer Sakho to Agger, who has made noises about wanting a move. So hopefully we can get a good price for him and buy a partner for Sakho. I can't for the life of me think of a realistic centre back so I'm just gunna go straight in with my dream signing and pretend we're getting Mats Hummels. Left back we've been linked with Alberto Moreno from Sevilla but I haven't seen too much of him. I like Rodriguez from Wolfsburg but prefer Kolasinac from Schalke. I don't want Ashley Cole and would probably cry real tears if we sign Ryan Bertrand. Why on Earth are we still being linked to him? Emre Can I like. Seems a good, modern CM, wouldn't mind if we got him even if I do prefer Lars Bender myself. I wouldn't be opposed to seing Lucas moved on while he still has some value, although I'm not sure if we can cope with one in one out in midfield if we get injuries. Adam Lallana seems the main target and is undoubtedly a player that would improve us but for £25 million? I'm not gunna get hung up on his price tag. If he arrives, great, we've got a fantastic player, but I will say you can get much better value for similar players. Not sure how realistic Rakitic is with the links around him, but Roberto Firmino is a player we should definitely be looking at. The way he and Hoffenheim have played this year he looks perfect for us. As for the other forward, I'd be perfectly happily taking Borini back to replace Aspas. Mignolet
Johnson - New CB - Sakho - Kolasinac
Gerrard
Henderson - Coutinho
Sterling - Sturridge - Suarez Jones, Enrique, Skrtel, Allen, Can, Firminho, Borini With players like Flanagan, Wisdom, Ilori, Suso & Ibe knocking around if they don't go out on loan. It's certainly looking stronger. Problem we are going to have is that there is plenty of potential sales there when we need to be adding depth. We are losing Cissokho & Moses, then of varying likelihood (either transfers or loans), Reina, Agger, Alberto, Aspas, Assaidi, Coates, Lucas and the youngsters I mentioned above. As the squad stands we need to add another 5 before losing anyone. Although there is only really Agger and Lucas there of any real value to this squad this year. So maybe 7 in? I love playing football manager this time of year.

Think I heard somewhere Firmino's off to Dortmund. We need about 5 players, but that would include us keeping Agger and Lucas, we need quality players for the Champions League too. (as well as depth, keep Lucas, Agger and Borini, hell even keep Reina as I prefer him to Mignolet)
