Let's ignore the interesting festival of football happening soon (TEN DAYS) and focus on two that aren't here yet.
The complaints regarding the 2018 World Cup are largely due to the fact that the biggest sporting event on Earth should not take place in a racist, sexist, homophobic volatile police state. Amnesty International reported there were 85,000 the old forum-Nazi's in Russia back in 2008 and this whole annexation kerfuffle has really painted the otherwise spritely nation in a negative light, meaning it's obvious this probably isn't a place suitable for the money and masses that'd gather to witness. Sadly, there's not been an outcry as such with this one, so we live in hope.
Now the 2022 one, which does have an outcry, not about it also being held in a racist, sexist, homophobic volatile police state, but about money. Of course. This has been a clusterfuck of the highest order since the vote back in 2011, from the ridiculous notion to hold the thing in January due to the extreme heat, the fact that they're hosting the opening game and final in a multi-billion pound city that doesn't even fucking exist yet, that hundreds of real human beings that have died build these exaggerated fishing bowls and of course the main one, that they almost certainly paid FIFA extravagant amounts for these privileges. Millions was gifted to FIFA high-ups as The Times reported last week and the vice-president of FIFA this week said he would support a re-vote, which is pretty big news. Hopefully it'll be going to Australia like it deserves to.
Should the World Cup be held in either of these places? After you've all agreed no, what is the likelihood that they'll be taken away? Will FIFA change tact at all or will they keep pretending they're a professional organization?
